The OP didn't apparently even play the game because there is a lot of architectural options in the game.
The real problem that keeps me from wanting to play the game anymore is the larger issue of sieges that the devs do nothing about. When players are able to use bark boxes to simply stack and use to scale over any size wall it makes any amount of construction pointless.
EARLY ACCESS REVIEW
DO NOT BUY THIS GAME IN ITS CURRENT STATE.
Great game idea. I've always wanted something free form, grind the skill you use the most and level up whatever you want to play as. Awesome for groups of people wanting to build an empire literally from the ground up. Kudos on the vision.
The game in its current state to put it bluntly, is not worth the 30 odd bucks they are charging for it. Since the minute I *tried* logging in, I've had nothing but errors, issues and mishaps.
The biggest one is - Every time I log in to the game, all of the skills I had worked on, Food gathered to survive was gone missing. I would wake up in a completely new location every time I logged in. Nothing like literally wasting 13 hours of your life eh? The last thing I need is a flash back to my college years.
Another minor bug : The map didnt work in the game. Great, I can find my way around using major land marks and such, no worries. there is an out of game map that helped that out.
The thing that REALLY♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥me off is the flippant way they handle tech support. I've sent an email detailing the bug and what went on. No reply. Send a second email after wasting another 6 hours of my life dicking around with this game explaining the situation, getting madder as I go along and demanding a reply within 24 hours or I stick this review up and demand a refund of the game.
The second email
Me :
I have had an issue with this game since install.
1.) the map doesnt work, It is stuck on noob island
2.) My character keeps resetting. I wake up naked and in different places. My college days are done with
3.) I have not received a reply to my original ticket.
4.) I will write a full negative review detailing my less than satisfactory experience trying to even install, play or get support for this on every site I run across and request a refund for it if I dont receive a reply from a human in 24 hours.
So done with paying full price for an alpha quality game.

Hi,
We have checked your account and determined that in-game bonuses (items/tickets/subscription perks) have been partly or fully used.
Unfortunately, in this case the purchase is not eligible for a refund.
Also, all in-game purchases are final and are not eligible for a refund as well.
Thank you for understanding.
The game is still in beta testing and we're working hard on improving it and creating the best experience.
We encourage you to follow the development of MMO!
I'll leave it in your hands to figure out if you want to spend money on this company or not.
but I wouldn't
they are shady and absolutely in over their heads.

Hmmm, their reply sounded professional and polite, quite a contrast to your email to them!
Interestingly enough this review makes no mention of some of the challenges faced by the beta testers including significant system instability, complaints over nerfs which are limiting pvp along with what many feel are excessive resource costs vs far too limited rewards for winning.
I picked all of that up from a quick read of the LiF forums, apparetly the RP server isn't expereiencing any of them.
Oh yeah, thats right, this is "beta", they don't count yet.

That's because Role Players do it better.
