How am I mean't to sign up for the free trial?
I've gone to the following link:

Here, they have a download for the game as well as the promotional code.
I'm guessing you have to use this code to sign up for the free trial here:

It keeps giving me the error:
Errors occured validating your account information:
In field CD Key: You have not met the minimum size for this field. The min length is: 20
Where the hell am I mean't to sign up for this free trial then

That link you just gave me links to the exact same place I was trying to create the account, so it never worked.
Nevermind. I have found that you need to go to the US site to create the free trial account.
They sure didn't make this obvious.
There are problems with customer support for EU players because Tulga does not manage them - IGN does. I guess there is a free trial for EU players who wish to play on the EU server, unity.
However there are quite a few EU players playing on US servers. If you are interested in doing that, you could join the horizons irc channel to get information about how to do it There is information for doing that both in these forums here and at the official forums at community.istaria.com.
To be honest I can't be bothered with doing all this just to play a free trial. But thanks for the info anyway.
I'm gonna play the free trial first, to see how the game is, before I bother with trying to play on the EU servers.
I play on Unity, the EU server. Here's a helpful piece of advice, if I could move my characters and their posessions to the North American servers, I'd have done so a long time ago. Those of us who haven't switched to the North American shards and are left on Unity are a dying breed.
Why is the EU server so bad ? Game Network. If you've ever played any of their games then you'll already know what their support is like. Non-existent.
I do actually have a North American account as well as my European account. I use the NA account for reporting any problems I find, because I know the tickets will be looked at directly by Tulga, the developers. As for problems on the EU server, all of those tickets are still untouched, because Game Network really do not care about you or I as a customer unless it is a billing issue.
I sometimes wish I had the courage to scrap all my gamely posessions, so I could leave Unity once and for all. The problem is that with any roleplaying game, our charatcer becomes us / we become the character. Sacrificing the investment of time is just not desirable.
There's a reason why Tulga changed things so that anyone can play on the North American shards. You've just heard part of it, but the most important part.
