Am I the only one finding the whole story very sketchy? Why did Person 2 give out any address at all? And it just so happened to be to the home of a man who was killed instantly? I think stopping at Person 1 and lightly investigating the officer is irresponsible at best. Person 2 could very well be the mastermind behind it all and he's getting off clean. Sad.
To be guilty of reckless endangerment, the accused's actions would have to be something that a reasonable person would realize could put someone else in danger and has a reasonable chance of causing harm.  I doubt there'd be any way to prove he gave that specific address on purpose if he did (and I really don't think the chance is very high that he did. The address is so far away from where he lives that it seems doubtful he has any relation to anyone there whatsoever)

I personally think that giving out a random address to someone threatening to SWAT it does count as that, but it's rather detached for the law to go after him.  The family might be able to make a better case and sue him and get civil damages from him but like I said earlier, the fact that he got into such a tussle over a bet for $1.50 (one dollar and fifty cents) kinda implies he has no money to be sued over anyways.

I can't believe how many people are defending the cop in this situation. He was far away from the suspect, behind a car. It was a swat who should be able to take on situations like this and not second guess if the guy had a gun or not. Even if the guy would have had a handgun, from that distance you don't shoot someone to the head poinblank.
He should be suspended and put to mall security, but I guess he would be able to trip someone to his death in stairs or something. Some kid might have a lollipop that looks like a gun...
And also someone saying the suspect did not follow orders. You try to follow orders when you open your door and bright light flashes your sight and people are yelling at you to raise your hands, not so easy I would guess.
Too many stories about the US police being triggerhappy, they need better training.

ive never done RL with game life, ever.

This. Perhaps I'm alone in this, but there is no issue in-game that I can't solve immediately with use of the power button. I just don't get people like that caller that take it so far.

That said, how are we not all over the police here? I understand that SWAT arrived prepared for an armed hostage situation, but the officer overreacted. He should also be held accountable in the same way that a civilian would be. If I misread a situation and shot a non aggressive person, you can bet that I, as a civilian, would be brought up on at least manslaughter. In my opinion, the officer should be no different.

The cop followed his training and under the circumstances did the right thing. If you are being told by a cop to keep your hands up with a gun pointed at you then you keep your hands up and don't reach for your waist where you could have a weapon.
