In rust Aiming is a must to know how because if you die you loose everything that you carrying and your lovely gear that you probably struggled to craft (collecting resources etc.). When you manage to Build a house and start crafting guns and bullets, the game becomes an open world Counter Strike.
people that are aiming gods in the game don't need to gather any resources. Just hunting other players and stealing their goodies, or raiding poor made houses :P And that in short all about rust.
4 years of early access.....maybe they should have broken this down into stages:
1-extremely early access
2-very early access, but not as early as 1
3- early access but not really that early
4-mid access of early access
5-late access of early access
6-so late that it's touch and go whether you'll make it
7- you missed early access, but never mind as the game has now moved into Open Beta
In those 4 years facepunch created 2 games. The 1st rust game was made in Source engine (Half Life 2)
with poor graphics and easy to hack.. So they listened to the community and they started all over from scratch in Unity this time. Trust me 4 years is not long enough to do that

my apologies then.. mistaken
But I am an old as F_ adult who can't aim very well, though I have improved some since playing Fallout 4 recently.
No idea if that games aiming system resembles anything like Rust or other shooters.
(Not the VATS system btw, almost never use it preferring to free aim, even on the run.)

The aiming thing? That's besides the point.
