They were sold/purchased, the original people decided they had had enough and left (and probably well off by this point) which means everyone else was left at the mercy of their new overlords.
I don't feel bad for the way the industry operates anymore. People work for a studio, owners sellout for big bucks to mega publishers, and everyone is screwed. Rinse. Repeat. The first few years this stuff went on I did feel bad. Now, no. Make changes to the system.
If I was in the business I'd just leave it.

And lets face it.....as developers. They saw the writing on the wall years ago. I can't believe anyone didn't. If they claim the victim now, I would ask......But didn't you chose this? To be a game developer for a company bought by EA under performing.......you knew this would happen.

That would be my question, why would they sell?

More development funds, better employee benefits, more advertising funds, etc.

Pretty much this. EA seems to actually be pretty well regarded by its employees (and its positive glass door rating seems to support this).
It's just from a creative and consumer end that EA is despicable. They wouldn't have this reputation if they allowed full creative control, didn't pork the consumer at every opportunity, and left the Frostbite engine in the garbage bin where it belongs.
I hope it fails... hard! It's rough to wish for this but it's the only way these devs will actually escape the grip of evil Emperor and have a chance to find a place elsewhere to be able to release their creative energy. EA must feel like a prison I'm sure.
"...BioWare will look very different in the future..."
Yeah... "If master will not be pleased he will scrap me." That's how I read it.
About 6 months after the buy out I remember an EA executive talking about how the Bioware name would soon go and they would come under the EA banner. I think their success stopped that happening, but drop the ball more than once and EA will can you.
The Company making the game isn't even Bioware, the original Bioware left the company years ago after DA:O and Mass Effect 2, most of the staff there now are from the failed pet project at Bioware Montreal.
Now Bioware itself is a pet project of virtue signal, a running internet joke ever since the ME:A mega flop was realized.
Real Bioware made Banner Saga 1 & 2, they left the company a very long time ago.
Anthem won't just crash and burn, it'll go down as a testament
1. Never trust EA with anything
2. SJW's should never be let anywhere near Videogame development
3. Staffing a team full of ladies doesn't mean anything if they have absolutely no experience or appetite for making a product.
This is not to take away from the great industry ladies that have been here for years, doing a bang up job and often go unsung.
This is to say that old Jeff Goldblum, Ian Malcolm saying
"You were so obsessed with saying that you could, you didn't stop to think if you should"
You wouldn't staff a nuclear plant with high school drop outs because you don't want to hurt their feelings.
Like you shouldn't staff TripleA games development studios with folks whom have "Social studies" as their only qualification.
Respect to the Industry ladies that do a damn good job and show why ladies do belong
To hell with these SJW's who crybullied their way into the job and are screwing it up because they're clueless.
The game will receive a large advertising budget which will push the game to better numbers than it deserves. So mark my words,it hits top 5/6/7 in twitch then in a very short time, less than one month ,drops right down the charts ...quickly. Soon as the top paid sponsored twitch streamers stop playing ,it will drop right into oblivion, then proving it's real worth.
The good quality games stick around a long time and even without any ladder or ranking or esport gimmicks.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

I'm honestly not so sure about this one, a lot of streamers are still angry over the SWBF II Debacle and were not too impressed with ME:A so they best be willing to dump a lot of cash to buy their voices or they're going to get a lot of dissenting viewpoints even if Anthem turns out to be a good game.
Bioware may produce another hit, but with EA's current damaged reputation and absolute PR disaster surrounding the aforementioned incident, they may well still become victims of EA's mistakes.

There were re-organisations though which saw various studios grouped together. So Bioware became - I think - EA Bioware which was Bioware + stuff.

heh considerating the crap bioware was tossed the last years, its not even if they can do good, it will be crappy, but maybe becasue most are now hoping to a crap game if they make something passable they will keep they jobs.
but in other hand good luck to try and sell, after they rep was burned its pretty hard to get it back
