Do you only play 1 game at a time or multiple games at once?

CryomatrixCryomatrix Member EpicPosts: 3,223
I've realized this about myself. I can really only play 1 game at a time. I think the reason is, since I have a super addictive personality, once I get into a game, I'm automatically addicted. Once i'm addicted to it, I don't want to play any other game. I am not sure I can play a game without being clinically addicted to it or else I'll get bored.

I'm not sure how other people keep bouncing from game to game, I guess they aren't addicted or have massive amounts of time.

For example. I was playing Conan Exiles, then when I got a bit bored or wanted to take a break, I went back to my "old faithful" game which is Path of Exile and a new season had just come out. So I played that for about 1-2 weeks until my character died. (I play HC only). Then I got pissed and was like screw that. I decided to give Witcher 3 a try for the story but never got addicted to the game somehow. Then I started talking about P2W on the forums and decided to fire up good old project entropia and then got hooked back into that.

I can't really bounce between Path of Exile and Project Entropia. I just cannot play more than one game at a time. I could do a huge crafting run in Entropia and then play another game while I craft, but it's preferable to set up my crafting runs when I go to sleep.

How about yourselves?

P.S. Civ 5 is what I call a filler game, when I'm in between games (addictions) and I haven't gone back to PoE, I'll probably fire up a few games of Civ 5.

I've been trying to find a new addiction but can't seem to manage. I tried going back to Eve, Entropia, WoW, ESO, SWTOR, FFXIV, and GW2 recently but they just don't hold my interest anymore. Guess I'll just dive into more game development or work until something catches my interest again.

I'm pretty much always playing multiple games, especially with the way a lot of games nowadays are "games as a service" style that you move on from but occasionally pop back on to see what's up. There's still usually one game taking up the majority of my gaming time, but when it's a longer RPG or something, I'll probably play something else every now and then as a palette cleanser. Currently spending most of my time with Monster Hunter World, broke it up with quick playthroughs of The Turing Test and What Remains of Edith Finch, maybe some occasional WoW or Civ 6. I still need to finally wrap up Horizon: Zero Dawn, and I've barely scratched the surface of Zelda: BOTW.

if the game is captivating, I'll only play one.. if  I am playing more then one game at a time, it means they are Meh.

I play one game at a time. Currently I am playing nothing. My profile on this site says I am currently playing World of Warcraft. How do I make it stop saying that?

EQ1, EQ2, SWG, SWTOR, GW, GW2 CoH, CoV, FFXI, WoW, CO, War,TSW and a slew of free trials and beta tests

Multiple for the most part, but it depends on the game. For example, when i played Horizon Zero Dawn i didn't touch any other game until i beat it. Same with Tales of Berseria, The Last of Us Remastered and Rise of the Tomb Raider.

Not many games get my 100% attention at any time. Notice the pattern above, they are all single player with a good story.

I can play an online game for a very long time but never by itself because they get too repetitive and make me lose interest when there is lack of new content. So i always keep several online games installed to hop around based on my interest and mood and if my friends are playing.

I usually have my main game (SWTOR atm) and then a MOBA or Hearthstone to shake it up a little.

    multiple at a time.
    right now :
-maintenance mode on BDO (lifeskilling 22h/day, 1h grinding and 1h rbf/pvp), and sometimes when i feel like it; i switch to hardcore grind.
    -eternal (CCG)
    -battlerite (arena brawler)
-poe for roughly a week (if the new league is meh) up to a month or so (if the new league is breach level good) whenever they release a new league/expansion.
and very occasionally pubg with some friends or some arma 3 battle royale or koth when we are more than 4 playing.

I really get into one game at aa time myself, but that would be per environment. So one on PC and one mobile.

I burn out far too quickly if I only play one game.  Multiple games is a requirement nowadays, especially with the limited (good) MMORPG choices.

Thank the gods for CIV6 and MOBAs

    Raquelis in various games
    Played: Everything
    Playing: Nioh 2, Civ6
    Wants: The World

One MMO (or more commonly none) but I will alternate some single-player games in there.
I want to help design and develop a PvE-focused, solo-friendly, sandpark MMO which combines crafting, monster hunting, and story.  So PM me if you are starting one.

Are we twin brothers separated at birth perhaps? ;)

I can play only one game, and never bounce between games.

Normally I play only one game, and I stay with it obsessively until I'm "finished" with it, rarely to return.

There's a few games I've gone back to or replayed over the years, EVE, WOW and DAOC in the MMORPG space, Fallout Tactics, Fallout 4, Half Life 1, and Ultima Underground come to mind in single player games.

As the Highlander would say..."there can be only one."

Right now that one continues to be Fallout 4. Currently playing through the Far Harbor DLC, terrific expansion and glad I waited to do it on my 2nd character rather than my level 70 1st one.

Typically, one multiplayer game to enjoy with a friend or group of friends, and another (single or multi) to enjoy by myself. I tend to shift around pretty frequently, though.

One game at a time and play it until the end, I am not sure we had a nick name for that sort of player, perhaps "loyal", "serious", "hardcore", I guess if we have to be insects "Bee" would do. ;)

For MMOs we had the word "locust" for those who devour a games content get to top level or near it and then move on to the next MMO. "Butterfly" was for those players more like you mention who flit from one game to another.

So our argument about P2W helped you decide to go back to Entropia, next time I will ask any poster I am in a discussion with about P2W "This is not fuelling your addiction for P2W is it?"

Incidentally this is not fuelling anyone's addiction to be a locust or a butterfly is it? :)

1 each genre ,several genres so i never run out of games, never feel a need to buy anything that comes out unless it is real good.Right now i'll bounce between EQ2 and FFXi ,several strategy games to choose, however i have kind of given up on tcg's all the same doing very little for gaming, mostly just trying to sell cards.

Do not play any arpg's anymore or moba's all trash games that do nothing for me.FPS's i stick to the best Quake and Unreal as these new wave attempts are more flash than good designs.IMO fps's belong in arena settings not running around trees and rocks and forced gas.

Pfft, you both are gadabouts, I have played nothing but RPGs or MMORPGs with 2010s release of Starcraft 2 being the one exception since the mid 2000s. (I didnt like it)

Even now my Steam library has several non RPGs in it, including 7 Days to Die, Hearts of Iron 4, Dead Maze, couple of XCom titles, Prison Architect,  Endless Sky and I can't bring myself to even try the APRGs in the collection, Torchlight 2 and Grim Dawn.

With RPGs like Witcher 1, 2, & 3, Elite Dangerous, Legend of Grimrock 2, and Massive Chalice still in the queue it might be awhile.

Assuming they never release Fallout 5 or worse Fallout Online of course.  I would probably just have my consciousness transferred into one of them.

    Depends what games are available.

If there is a game I really like and which takes a lot of time I exclusively play that game. This might take several weeks for some single player games. Regarding mmorpgs in the past I skipped several years of single player games just because I was exclusively playing one mmorpg. But those times are long gone. New mmorpgs don't keep me interested for very long anymore.

Nowadays it's more like some major sp games and in between I play little filler games which can be played for an evening.

One game at a time.... not counting casual games where you play for 30 min ala tetris, madden, and the like.
