make it easy to move a house.

i cant access the official forums from work, but if you check teh dev tracker, one of yesterday posts list something really cool on TC.

a new way to pack up a house including everything in it and move it to a new location.  it can be deployed so everything in the house stays as is.

that is way cool, i dread having to rearrange tons of my inventory to move my house.

Oh god if they do this I will be soooo happy. I HATE moving specifically because of how tedious it is to get everything to the new location. Just that is annoying enough... much less having to put it all back into the house once ya move it... YUCK.

I am really excited if they are actually doing this.

i'll wait until i know it works 100% before i even think of trying it, but barring major bugs, i'm looking forward to this.

Yes from the sound of the post on the dev tracker it seems as if we'll be able to take furnished houses, pack em up, drop em in a new location with everything where it was before.

I haven't had a chance to test this out on Test Center yet, but when I do (probably later today or tomorrow) I'll let ya know.

HMMMMM I wonder if you can trade em when they're packed up....
I could see a whole new market opening up with people selling pre-decorated houses....

The reason they are making houses movable like that is to pave the way for server merges.  It will be like the Old West Land Grab.

i saw the same thread on the official forums, it's an unfounded rumor.  it was announced and a few people jumped to conclusions without any backup evidence.   stuff like this should go on the rumors forums, at least until there's something to support the claim.

Server merges? Are you on crack? The servers are crowded right now. It's WAY too soon to be talking about server merges. Anyone even thinking about server merges isn't paying attention to the populations on the servers lately. During peak time they're all heavy anymore and several are 'extremely heavy'. If they merged servers every server would be more crowded than Bria and Ahazi! UNGH!

They're not doing it for server merges they're doing it because people have continually bitched about how hard it is to move a house once you have stuff in it. And, frankly, it's about time they adressed it.

Ok I just tested packing up a house.

    1. When you pack up a house and then drop it, everything is just as you left it.
    2. A packed up house goes to your datapad.
    3. You are still charged maintenance while the house is packed up.
    4. Lots are still used on packed up houses.

There is one bug I've found and it's related to the maintenance.  There is a radial menu button to pay maintenance on packed up homes but it doesn't work.  Hopefully that will get fixed before the publish goes live.

Wow! I didn't know you could actually move buildings in this game! How do you move a building? Can you also move your player-owned store and any other building you may have?

Yah I'm on crack now what!  Am I the ONLY one who noticed that they changed the server population requirements overnight.  All of a sudden Perma-light servers were heavy?  Now who's on crack?  Its called reel in the Noobs with fake categorizations.  Granted there are populated servers, I'll give you that.  But dont tell me that right after the CU hit all of a sudden a bunch of people joined the game.  I think it's quite the opposite.  Its called reeling in the newbs.  What person who bought the game with an Ep3 hardon would choose a light server to play on?

People who complain about not being able to move  their house are stupid.  That's what the house if for.   Buy another house put it somewhere else and move the stupid things inside.  I can't tell you how many times I've done this in game.  I dont think it was created to save time and make people play less.

THIS I PROCLAIM!  SERVER MERGES ARE DRAWING NIGH! *takes hit from crack pipe*

You can redeed a house by selecting destroy structure--provided there is enough maintenance cash left.  However, you should pickup everything in the house into your character's inventory.

You can move houses, guildhalls, and harvestors like this yes.

In publish 22+ (21 is the upcoming publish) you can simply select "pack up" and the building will go to your datapad with everything inside it, then you can dump the house back down wherever with everything in the same spot.  You still have to pay maintenance on packed up houses.

Err it wasn't over night there genius. After EPIII the populations steadily climbed from light, through medium to heavy and extremely heavy. All that time there was a massive US TV Add campaign going on on several tv stations as well as people who are coming back because of CU and the new expansion.

Do you even play? Because if you did you would know what those of us who PLAY on formerly "light" population servers do.

The population on Lowca SKYROCKETED after EPIII. The game was nearly a ghost town on LOWCA pre-CU. It was sometimes even hard to find people at Dant Mining Outpost and even on Coronet at some times of the day. Now the server is literally jam packed with players and we're starting to show up as a 'heavy' population server during peak time. Which makes sense because there's like 10x the number of people online on the server. My friends list which was mostly always OFFLINE before is now lit up every night with over half the people showing up online at any given time of the night. And during peak hours nearly 75% of my friends list is active and online.

    There are more people playing.
And they are playing more often.
Thus the online population of the servers has skyrocketed.

Another little fact to chew on: Many people enjoy lighter population servers because they tend to have better communities. They also frequently offer a better chance for crafters to break into a less saturated market.

That's why when new servers are opened in MMO's so many people rush to join them.
