Garriott claim Ultima Online had a million subscribers

He made this statement in this video -



He say at 5.47 that the game had a million subscribers.

This is interesting news since all earlier data on UO was a max of 250.000 subscribers.

    Well, actually I like what he is saying tbh...its cool to get some history of UO and problems and what not...

    but wtf is with the showing off of his random objects. 

    (edit: After fully watching the video. I'm pretty sure this was more about his junk than the game lol)

    Aye it seem to be in total those early years of the game when he himself was in charge.

    Link- While Shroud of the Avatar might be on the verge of bankruptcy, Richard Garriott released what may have been an unknown piece of information about Ultima Online. In the investor pitch they put down that UO was the first MMO to reach 1 million unique accounts.

    Consider that Lineage had reached 1 million subscribers per month around the year 2000 (according to the infamous MMO subscriber charts) and the fact that UO peaked 3 years later at 250,000 subscribers per month. This means millions of people have played UO. Which is not a surprise since it gets talked about literally everywhere.

    The frustrating thing is it probably would not take a lot to recapture even a tiny percentage of those previous players. Richard Garriott tried with SOTA but that seems to have been messed up big time.
