Its not unusual that streamers and youtubers get stuff for free.
Not unusual at all.  That's why I was very interested in how solid the info that CIG bought the rigs was, because the only difference in the situation would be that, as far as I know, all funds CIG has originated from crowdfunding money.

I agree with Erillion that, without a better source claiming CIG bought them, the posts don't indicate that's the case here.  It seems most likely CIG merely provided the Optane SSD, from the information I've seen thus far.

Seriously you know what I really see wrong here...

If you're going to waste over $1500 USD on a I9 CPU for the best one, and everything you might as well not skimp out on the stupid prebuilt computers from IBuyPower, and instead build your own and ship it right?

LIke the problem I see here is the Hunk OF Junk it is (If it's free no problem) who cares, but if I were myself or a company building a PC like that I would want to make it fully custom, why not use an Obsidian 900D Case or bigger that can fit 3 Independent Liquid Coolers.

For that price, why not run 3 different dedicated Liquid Systems, or one really big custom loop with Cold Plates, and OverClock that to get it up to 4.2+ GHZ+.

Also I Buy Power doesn't even offer the proper parts, let alone good ram speeds lol I saw a huge performance boost going from 3200 to 3600 MHZ in ram it doesn't seem like a lot but for certain games it was faster :3.

I guess this fit into their budget yea? David Copperfield better take notes if this title magically disappears in a few years with all that money raised over this time.

Can you source that it was CIG who bought the PCs they gave away?

Because this is all BS noise without one, in a reality where promotional partnerships for giveaways and so is quite common for the sake of advertising... that's quite the assumption.

You could have a taken a hint with how the thanks from the streamers was formatted and how those companies are promoting one new campaign Intel has started y'know...

I just wonder if all of the people who received these products are required of all the steps they now have to take while they are streaming Star Citizen or using YouTube to post Star Citizen videos.

I am so offended that people are offended at the possibility of others being offended from this none offensive offence!

Who should I write to in order to complain?

No I can't be bothered to get on these guy's streams and confirm, I'm sure someone else will though.

I can't see iBuyPower (ironic name when talking about SC :)) gifting away top line PCs to these streamers, the game they stream is not that popular on twitch nor do they get the viewers to justify the outlay and the coincidence of both guys getting the same PC at the same time seems rather small, it felt more likely that CIG had purchased them.

    Someone will clarify.

The streamers just told you so. CIG, Intel and a PC company together are gifting away new PCs to them.

It's unlikely that we'd ever get to know which company pitched in how much of the new PC, something like this is a joint marketing effort where they share the costs and share the media attention they'll gain.

Good on the lucky ones for getting those PC's, well deserved imo.
Now trying to make a clickbate drama title out of this? Desperate much lol?

I've just read an article on a german gaming site, where its said that the developers of everspace paid a streamer 5000 € per hour for streaming their game, but he doesnt like spacegames at all, so he played like an "total idiot", thats what the devs said lol.

The way the posts read, CIG paid for the PCs in full, not just the Optanes.  If that's not correct, let us know.

    I thought that too.
Then i saw all the sponsorship logos on the picture.

Intel is running a new campaign, CIG and Intel are partners, the same way Intel has given CIG Octanes (and I think CIG has given away Octanes as well last Citcon), so if CIG pitched with the Octanes to be part of the campaign, it's quite ridiculous to go there claiming the company is buying PCs for streamers.

But you can be bothered to create this thread... ANYWAY, To me is around the same thing when CIG gave away Octanes last Citcon, they were given them by Intel, part of their partnership, on this case both stores are advertising the same Intel campaign (that is all about "best PCs" btw), so centerpiece most likely Intel not the stores or CIG, and CIG is who chooses who gets them,

Its not their money and if they fall flat on their face they made millions. Whats the problem here?

Yep, I thought it might lead to some interesting discussion, sue me. The pics came from a post on the Frontier forums and simply showed that it was more than just a single occurance, I couldn't care less about whether it was taking a shot at CIG or not.

You mean: pics that came from a "Lets bash SC" part of the Frontier forum that only the same die hard Goonies and The Smarty (unless he gets himself banned - again!) maintain for the last years, necessitating a split of that thread 5 (6?, 7?) times because their hateful tirades became too long for the Frontier forum program to handle.

A part of the forum that has little to do with the rest of the Frontier forum. For good reason.

Interesting discussion hehehe, more like let's run by assumption so we can hate CIG in every way we can possibly imagine. Nobody would care to post this otherwise.

If by buying a computer helps bring in revenue and delay putting out a game, then by all means.

Run on assumption.....Has any of the fanbois shown SC didn't give these computers to streamers....no....interesting

First it was "no they didn't give streamers computers", now its " Who the hell cares about streamers getting stuff".

    Waffle much.

Just think, by time this game comes out if it does they will have to replace all the computers they gave away to streamers over how many years........more ship sales, more development time, the cycle continues.

Yes run by assumption. This was a marketing partnership as it obviously shows, the PC stores (advertising the latest Intel campaign), Intel (that is a running a beast PC campaign btw) and CIG (partner of Intel), but hell with that better the short version "backer money spentz on pcz for streamerz OMG EVIL CIG!".

If you ever heard of stuff like the gleam.io on social media you'd kinda understand how giving away high-end stuff is common, it's all about the media spread of new products.

Waah waah waah won't somebody call a waahmbulance for Erillion, there's a thread on the internet that upsets him...

Seriously, who cares where they came from, the origin was Twitter, whether they got posted on SA, Spectrum, Reddit or Frontier's forum has no bearing on the content of the posts.

For the record, the reason for the thread being split is because the forum software they were using had a max post count per thread, which meant a new one needed to be opened when the old reached full capacity. Nothing more to it.

If you want to assume my intentions that's entirely up to you. It's something you do all the time and usually to hilarious effect. I suppose it's easier to claim something is done maliciously because it gives you a pedestal to be an asshole rather than accept that it might be done for any other reason.

Well when it comes to copy/pasting stuff from FD remember you got burnt before when you unawarely posted fabricated drama. I don't need to assume intent on something that became so predictable when it comes from there.

You guys can argue about anything can't you?  At the end of the brass tax, who gives a shit? How does any of this matter for the game, it's just some douchebags bragging about getting some shit for free from sponsors.  What's new?

When a company constantly begs for money, constantly pushes back its deliverable date, and then starts using that money to give gifts then some may be concerned. Just not you, or any of the fans.
