One of the most secretive and elusive factions found in the Elder Scrolls Online is the Psijic Order. With the launch of the Summerset expansion in June, players will be able to discover and learn more about the mysterious order and even join them to "learn the ways of these magical masters".

    Without giving spoilers: So far, with the limited amount of time I have played Summerset on the PTS, what you have to do to level up the Psijic Order is some of the most miserable gameplay I have encountered in a video game.

    They're time breaches that need to be closed. Couldn't they at least have had some enemies come through the breach that you have to defeat before you can close it? Instead all you need to do is find it and press E. 

    The skills are not bad and are different enough from other existing skills that at least they make you think about using them in some builds but the time breach closing part of the whole quest line feels like a rush job.

    That's where Gw2, for me, get it right (pre scarllet).

    You were hero of the world, not the hero of the world. When LA got destroyed and rebuilt there was a monument honoring all the heroes who defended it, of course your name was on it.

    But every bit of story try to say that "you are part of something bigger" rather than "you are the chosen one".

    It's not perfect, and sometimes it seems like goes to chosen one bit, but for the most part gw2 storytelling is quite effective to that matter - without making you feel not special.
    GW2 as well as Rift (and IMO, Rift did it better) are built from the ground up with zone/group events in mind that tell group stories. EQN back when it was still a thing was also heading in that direction. I love that kind of design in MMOs but it's rare.

    ESO just went with the standard you are THE hero thing for PVE. It's too bad but that's the way it is.
