Case in point. Elder Scrolls Online has an issue with Steam most of the day on Saturday and none of those accounts can login through Steam. An account purchased outside of Steam works just fine.
Pretty much done with Steam after this, Valve can't seem to fix a simple handshake problem with Zenimax. Last time I ever get a MMO through Steam.

So even though the game runs fine outside of Steam, they still try and claim it is not Steam but the game developers problem.
It goes beyond mmo's as well i had an issue with UT99 where i could not utilize the Editor to save files.I tired several times to make Steam understand that there is ZERO problems with the editor outside of Steam but they simply don't care and will ignore you.
Steam is raking in the bucks because they have almost no customer support,a VERY shallow system that is simply like buying a chocolate bar from a vending machine.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

But yeah, as large as my Steam library has grown because of sales, for MMOs I'll always prefer to buy straight from the publisher and open an account the old-fashioned way.
MMO's I've played on my Steam:
Age of Conan
Ark
AXYOS
Battleborn
BDO
DDO
DOFUS
DOTA2
Elite Dangerous
ESO
Marvel Heroes
Minion Masters
Neverwinter
Path of Exile
Portal Knights
Rift
Secret World
Trove
Warframe
World of Diving
(we could argue if a few of those are MMO's but you clearly see my point)
Edit: Added even more games, now that I'm looking closely I've played a butt ton through Steam.

Is a man not entitled to the herp of his derp?
Remember, I live in a world where juggalos and yugioh players are real things.
I buy MMOs directly from the company making them myself but since I am a bit lazy I tend to buy regular games from steam.
Games without steam have issues periodically.
I self identify as a monkey.
Steam also has a terrible rep with for old games they sell and do not support. I bought the old Star Wars Series Jedi Knight series (7 games in all) during a sale. NONE of them worked. Now they sit in my library, being a virtual paperweight.
I can also say that support is usually "Contact the game developer.", no matter what the trouble is.
But most people love Steam, for some odd reason. So it is here to stay.

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.- FARGIN_WAR
