Epic Announces Over Two Million Downloads on Nintendo Switch - Fortnite - MMORPG.com

Fortnite News - Speaking to IGN today, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime said that Fortnite has been downloaded over two million times on Nintendo Switch. That's pretty impressive since the announcement of Fortnite on Switch was made just yesterday during the Nintendo E3 Showcase.

I played a match. I am extremely dissapointed I cannot play on my PC account because at one point I loaded it on my PS4 when my PC was down. I don't want to buy the Battlepass again, or rebuy any cosmetics. Bleh.

That should not be a problem. It is the same account and progression on PS4 and PC.

Just because it "shouldn't" be a problem doesn't mean it isn't(it rarely does).

I wonder if this is all legal on Sony's end. I can't imagine how it possibly is. Though that isn't to put full blame on just Sony. Epic shares equal share of the blame for at the least not warning players that this situation would arise should they choose to log in to their account on ps4 even once.

Everyone is siding together other than Sony. Fortnite players can play together from iOS, PC, Nintendo and Xbox One. Just not PlayStation. Dumb move by Sony to block crossplay of the biggest game in the world right now. Yet as much as I love my PS4, Sony is hardlined against crossplay and makes no bones about it. Blocking an account linked to PSN? A move that only hurts gamers, not their competition.  

But Fortnite PS4 does have crossplay with PC and mobile, just not with Xbox and Switch. Yes it is a really dumb move, specially since the game is running on Epic Games servers and not Sony's, Microsoft's or Nintendo's.

It's growing because it's even talked about in non gaming places such as the local news, down the street etc. It's an alright game but don't understand why everyone thinks it's better than it is.

Cause nowadays most people don't have opinions, but just follow the trends.

Btw pretty sure that if Realm Royal came out on switch it will be more popular because the lesser amount of abilities and BS you have to deal with, makes it more suitable.

Not sure certain games can be enjoyed fully on a phone. It's not an ipad but ok and not a phone but ok. Doesn't feel right to me.

I downloaded it on my Switch. It's not bad so far. But tbh, I enjoy PUBG on my tablet more.

I played a 50v50 it was a little laggy at the end when there were 60+ people in a small circle but other than that runs really well both handheld and classic mode.

Yeah whoops I worded it weird. I was able to play fine on PC / PS4 on the same account, just couldn't link my switch to it. 

Honestly I kinda see why Sony is doing what they are doing, it's attempting to lock out the other consoles and get people who already own a PS4 to get others to buy them, but I don't think at this point they can give in either. They already stuck to their guns with Minecraft until the situation dissipated, I think they are hoping the Fortnite situation happens the same way, just wait it out until everyone stops complaining. 

I may try to play some more on the Switch, it just feels like I'm wasting time if I could just go play it on my PC / PS4 and have my progress and not have to buy it all again.

True but Sony has the same problem with Minecraft and Rocket League. Crossplay is Crossplay. Sony is standing in the way. 

On an added note Sony's shares dropped 2% since this debacle. They are not doing themselves any favors. Yes they are dominating this generation of console cycle but as they themselves even proved last gen, the console market is a finicky one. 
They are not setting themselves up for a positive place for next gen. Which starts in about a year and a half. 

It's business.  Sony is currently winning the console wars.  5 years ago, Microsoft refused crossplay that Sony was open to.  Now, Sony's got the better exclusives, and can leverage that to ensure you play CoD or other multi-platform games on their system, too.

You can't hate on Sony for this without calling Microsoft on doing it before.

The way I feel about it is how Phil Spencer of Xbox feels:

If it does not help the developer and does not help the gamers then why do it?

Sony is trying to lock people into their ecosystem and on a business side you can see their point. But this being their 3rd straight issue on big games and crossplay gamers will not forget that. Sony may have 'won' this gen based completely on their exclusives but next gen is still up in the air. They, I am sure, hope this does not bite them in the rear.  

Oh it's going to come and bite them, especially with Microsoft finally making all the right decisions with their console. If Sony doesn't come back and change this weird stance on cross play, and add actual working Backwards Compatibility, Microsoft will own next generation. You can see how mad players are about Rocket League, Minecraft and now Fortnite. Just go on any major gaming forum and you see countless threads that are hundreds of pages long about how awful these decisions are. I just hope Sony makes some good decisions regarding this, I love their exclusives, but not enough to overlook all these problems.
