Building from the ground, up?

Here's a rather specific question for a specific type of game: Is there a survival game that lets you start with nothing, then build primitive structures, all the way to advanced ones? Like 7 Days to Die, lets you start with wood and stone axes, then you can progress into more advanced structures and weapons.

most seem to stagnate in the "stone age" style, or start off in the sci-fi theme before you even begin.

This. In most of them you start with basic materials, and move on progressively more and more advanced materials. It isn't always advanced like futuristic though, it's just usually bigger and better.

Ark: Survival Evolved pretty much progresses as you described, start with nothing and as you level up you gain access to more advanced recipes
