Steam Sale titles under 5 Bucks that are well worth it or you didn't know were awesome

With the Steam Sale in full swing it would be rather boring looking at your favorite series or AAA titles with a measly 20% discount. It is much more fun searching for that hidden treasure, that beautiful gem you didn't know existed or that one game you had forgotten about.

And what better place is there to look then at the 5 bucks or less category, no harm done when the game wasn't quite what you expected and all the more fun when that measly 5 bucks nets you a treasure. So, this thread is to share your 5 bucks or less recommendations. I'll start with a pretty extensive list so won't go into specific details as to why or how, I do however think all are worth more then what is being asked. Can't wait what you guys come up with!

Good list, but you are scaring me with Jotun. I got that one for free, horrible game IMO, seemed like something I played back in the 80s.

One of the rare items in my library which I didn't finish.

Apologies if it was your brother in law who created the game as I can't see any other reason to recommend it.  

I'll have to consider a couple of the others though.

I did pick up Civ 5 for $4.99, which I'm told is a pretty good game.

Borderlands 2 is awesome at $4.99! And investing in all the DLC gameplay (appearances meh) is worth it too!

I'd second Kingdoms of Amalur also, as I really liked the gameplay and story, and that reminds me that I need to go back and finish it!

Terraria was the best $5 investment I made years ago.

Ouch on the Endless Space purchase although I could argue the game is still worth it, even for that price tag. As for EA, quite a few of their earlier titles are on Steam.

Civ 5 is amazing. I like the battles where positioning and abilities is important. It is a very good game. It's the one i use to cheat on my Path of Exile wife ;.

Drakensang: The Dark Eye  $2.49.  For those that like D&D style games, but want something harder.  Uses the TDE ruleset from Germany with alot more number crunching than D&D uses.

Drakensang (2):  The River of Time is good too but isn't under $5.00 and the DLC: Phil's Secret add's another $3. to the cost.

to be fair 80 here is the norm, so a 80 around to you should be somewhere a 20 or so, even so its 15 over the 5 you said.

batletech was a 20% discount so was around 60 here to me but still not sure if I bite or wait, for me games around 10 or lower are boring, I never see one good enough for me to spend on even if is cheap

now if you want to get one of the op list I can recommend planescape, the star wars games, dragon age and vampire, if you really like RPG you will like these, they are pretty much the base of all the good rpg years, if you want to dig going for fallout 1,2 and see if they are on discount too is a nice thing, pretty good games bonus for playing in the order,but not required, one of the few games then the 2nd was even better then the first


edit, yep both fallout and the brotherhood of steel are on -75% discount so its pretty cheap now

Homefront: The Revolution, mixed reviews but I love it.  Dark Messiah of Might & Magic, classic game.

Is it better than Divinity II: Original Sin. I am just waiting to dive into it. I haven't even played the game yet but it's already starting to pull me away from Path of Exile. Currently lvl 87. Gonna stop playing him when I hit 90 or die trying .

IMO it is , in to very important ways for this type of game ..

 

 The RPG system and character depth , Drakensang system is superior ..

  And the story telling in the Drakensang series is really, really well done ..

  I enjoyed it more than Divinivty OS 1 or 2

Dishonored was a game i learned about from reading forum posts and glad i bought it.
I was a year late so obviously got it a lot cheaper ,i think i paid around 30 bucks but a great game.

Another game i learned about was Sorcery King from reading these forums,another pretty good game.

I've got hundreds of hours in Civ 5 and prefer it to Civ 6 in some ways, so yeah, I'd say it's worth $4.99 -- especially if it has all the DLC.

Edit: Just checked and the complete collection with all DLC is 92% off right now, which is like 89 cents (in my region). It's practically free.

Cant go wrong with Mount & Blade Warband.
Once you finish the base single player it doesn't end there because there are a ton of mods that make it a totally different experience (theres even a star wars and lotr mod)

I only play it for the multiplayer and I would say this is the best game I ever bought ever.

Cant wait for Bannerlords.

Great suggestions! I completely forgot about the Drakensang RPGs that are indeed very much worth it. Divinity 2 might indeed be the best discount there is, awesome game.

Also, Civ 5, great deal!
