Tale of two Games: Bless and GW2

FinvegaFinvega Member RarePosts: 260
I have owned GW2 for a long time, but never really played it much. I recently got Bless Online. In both games I started a fresh character and was surprised to see that in GW2 there were always peeps around me my level (as of level 8), but I saw no one else until I got to the big city in Bless Online. I had heard Bless was struggling a bit, but I was surprised at both GW's continued popularity given its age, and Bless's lack of it.

Try to ignore the shitstorm coming your way because of "Bless is the worst thing ever." If you enjoy the game, more power to you, don't let that be ruined by anyone.

GW2 is like a cartoony wine that has aged well, Bless was like a frothy beer that turned out to be all froth and hardly any beer. I can do non-alcoholic analogies with just as little actual information if required. :)

Comparing a game that came out in NA in May to a game that's been out for years constantly adding content.

OP is comparing experiences from one of the most popular mmos currently to one of the much less popular ones. Apples to, well really prunes not oranges.

I've heard (and noticed) that many players started Gw2 after the Bless situation. In addition: is bless free to play? Cause if it's not, you have the answer you were looking for (I also believe Gw2 to be an incredible game!)
    Currently on: Guild Wars 2

    most popular?......

main thing about GW2 is lvl scaling, so even in starter zone there are chances you will find someone who is doing something in a lower zone for a quest or a world boss, lvls means little

most MMO who don't have this, starter zone are normally dead save for a peep or 2

and yes bless is not f2p is b2p, gw2 shine faded for me a long time right on the first "expansion" they started to curb too much the classes and the system to make even brain dead people follow the same recipe, and funny enough they try and say they don't want people do that....
FOR HONOR, FOR FREEDOM.... and for some money.

If you're looking to replace GW2 for a change, don't get Bless, get ESO. Similar PvP, just even better in my opinion, and scaling also improved compared to GW2. The only thing that is missing is the dynamic events, but there are so many quests to compensate that you aren't about to see the end of content and repeat it twice for a long time.
You will also no doubt "miss" the game looking like a cartoon, not having quests appear like teletext on your screen without rhyme or reason, having races that could be described as cute for kiddies, having second rate lore when compared to the Elder Scroll series. :)

Not going down that road, but I agree about the races. About everything else... well, as I've said several times, my ideal "theme parkish" MMORPG today would be a mix between GW2, ESO and BDO. BDO's open alive world and node based gathering/crafting, GW2's dynamic events and ESO for everything else.
ESO may not have dynamic events as GW2, but the world is dynamic to the player, you save cities and the landscape and NPC attitude drastically changes. It's just once for all instead of an ever changing situation, but the fabulous amount of content compensates for it.
I agree about BDO's "crafting" as I still call it, they have taken that basic idea and given their MMO "the economy" as a game to itself.

I don't mind dynamic events; it is the way every quest in GW2 can be joined by just moving around, no need to speak to a quest giver. Now you could say you can always go and read if you want to, but occasionally they were hard to find and is it that difficult to click a text box if you don't want to read it? Oh and did I mention just because it is a cartoon does not mean you need to use garish colours?

I should say though that there were some things I liked about GW2 and some of the things which for me make it overall a bad MMO, are not even an issue for most players.
