Before clicking the link. Game is free. BUT, its the train simulator DLC of military aircraft sims. If you ever saw the insane prices of the train simulator and how much total...yup this is it. A whole almost 1.6k (yes 1,600 US dollars almost) of DLC. Granted people just pick the aircraft they want to learn on and focus on, plus whatever maps/campaigns...but yup DLC galore lol
https://store.steampowered.com/app/223750/DCS_World_Steam_Edition/If you are into ultra realistic simulators, I'm sure you know about it. If not, its probably not your type of game and you should move on if the DLC price didn't scare you already :P. But I'll sum it up in case someone here does like simulators, and like me, may not have known about it. So its pretty much THE air sim as far as military goes. Nothing beats it. its so realistic, some of the planes literally have 900 pages in a manual on how to use it...no joke. And some people it can take hours to learn how to even start a plane (depending which one you buy, some are more like Arma sorta but more realistic) because all the switches and gizmos in the cockpit
It makes arma look like an arcade game made for kids :P Arma was so much easier to learn lol.
Anyway, I got into it a a couple days ago. I don't have a joystick, just an xbox one controller. There is a joystick I found that is 100 on amazon, but I dunno if I want to invest any money into even the cheapest joystick cause I dunno how much I'm actually gonna be into the game. I really prefer xbox controllers than joysticks even in flying games. But in DCS having a joystick, be so much better from what I read. But my table doesn't have much room for all that stuff, cause my PC area is kinda small. Still, 100USD isnt that bad for one I found and its supposed to be a good one.
Outside of that...I'm just doing the tutorials to practice to learn how to fly. It takes a lot of learning. Gotta worry about "trimming", wind, weather, all that stuff. And then spend 1+ hour on configuring the controls. It took me literally 4 hours to configure my xbox controller to what I like and still gotta use keyboard for stuff. So there is that.
Definitely super niche. But I am pretty into it despite doing just the tutorial. It does have tanks I guess, but they aren't as well made supposedly compared to the aircraft. I guess biggest thing is really needing a joystick, but heh I dunno if I want one unless it was free lol

They even supposedly (didn't look) have actual Hornet pilots in real life flying the hornet in DCS and showing how to use it and what not on Youtube. So that says a lot about that particular one (and the game itself lol).
