"Designing and implementing Scramble Race missions. The Scramble Race is a mission type that can occur in space or on the ground which sees racers battling to be the first to reach a series of randomly spawned checkpoints. Each race is designed to bring racers into conflict, eliminating competitors by any means is encouraged."
So the first implementation of proper racing in the PU for Alpha 3.3 is actually PvP as well, as long this sort of racing event doesn't force people into insurance/death consequence then it'll be interesting.
That doesn't necessary mean procedural. It could also mean that they've placed a lot of possible checkpoints around and the game chooses randomly from them so that each race is different.
Don't have to worry about it taking a long time, that's a given.
One planet a month means 25 more years to get them all in game.
As someone who likes E:D and its procedural generation, understanding that the first planets are harder to develop than the following 100 billion, you have to feel very silly for your post above. I pity you.

I think that most people would consider that fluff to be added after all core functionality is in.
Not Chris Roberts. He calls fluff attention to detail and if that means 20 years in development to get in all the fluff he feels is needed, then he will take 20 years to do just that. Speaking of course, if the money keeps rolling and turns into a $1 Billion crowdfunded game. That is not a dig, that is just the way Chris Roberts is.
What's wrong with releasing the game that was promised and then finding out which fluff the players actually want most? I just don't understand CR's mentality, which is why calling him a scammer isn't completely unfounded.
It's not like every single employee is working on the fluff lol, I think to pretend they are only working on the "fluff" is bit of a narrow view point, this stuff is being added in because whoever was working on it got it done, why not just add it in when it's done?

Ooooh someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning....
SC are not doing their planetary generation like Elite, you know this.
Their model uses assisted PG which requires considerably more developer interaction, the placing of various vistas, biomes, the blending of them etc. On top of that the actual POIs are hand placed, wrecks are blended into the landscape after the devs have scoped out areas under various lighting conditions for best visual effect etc. On top of that they then need to playtest the various missions which make use of those POIs, especially the hero missions. If you think this is something they can whip up overnight or 100 at a time then I'm not sure it's me that should be feeling silly.

I usually do not do it, unless they really deserve it. Like in this case.
You can do quite a few things in the Alpha, but nothing works well (Yeah, it's alpha, but alot of the systems in this alpha has been reiterated many times already). It's jittery, it's heavily bugged - It feels "off" still...And the things you CAN do is not very fleshed out, it's clearly just a test of the various systems. They SHOULD be further along than they currently are. ..They keep focusing on stuffing more ships in there (bla bla, various teams bla bla, how about relocating some resources?), which atm seems like the wrong end to focus on, they should be expanding the universe by now, have actual biomes, not just empty moons...How many star systems did they promise at launch?..60?..100? 3.3 will include 1 planet with 1 landing zone..With the current speed they'll be done with around 1 star system in 2020.
I kinda hope they will pull the rabbit from the hat still, but i'm fairly certain that hat is empty atm.

Prove it then instead of throwing around petty insults.
The real deal here is that you know I am right otherwise you would offer something of substance to counter. Instead, like any other pathetic troll all you have are insults and derogatory comments.
Put up or shut up.
Edit: Even if they were to roll out a whole star system a month we are still looking at almost 10 years to get all 100 systems in place. CIG have been on the record saying each system will have the same amount of content as 10 normal games, does anyone honestly believe they can produce an equivalent amount of content in just a single month?
How about 50 PERSON Squad or 50 Person Air/ground/space. Or is this a male-only version of the Alpha that will never see live? Just curious. This type of misogyny behavior is pretty unacceptable in this day and age.
I know I see MaxBacon around a lot and hes a big supporter of this game but I only Erillion only seems to show up in SC threads. Not trying to stir anything up but is he/she an employee of the company at all? Again just asking, not trying to stir anything or draw conclusions to anything.
At this point, I bet this is a sore point with @Erillion as he/She has been accused of this in the past or of being Chris Roberts in disguise etc. I do not believe he/she is, I am convinced he/she just loves to post stuff about a game he/she (I really do not know...nor care being honest) is very excited about a game that appeals to him/her and I am equally convinced truly he/she loves to stir the pot because no comment, no matter how ludicrous will go unanswered. To the point of pretty much being a troll him/herself.

Does not make much sense to send in e.g. the artists and have them work on the core systems.
It only takes more time away from those people already working on the core systems, as they have to bring these new people up to speed (new people that would not even have the required skillset at first to work on these core systems).
Let these other people churn out the art and fluff that you will need later anyway.
Let the guys that know what they are doing work on the core systems until they get it right. If iterations are required, then i personally would give them time to do the necessary iterations.

THE IN-GAME MONEY SINK LIST
1) Fuel of all types.
2) Ammo for all ballistic weapons.
3) Missiles and Torpedoes.
4) Food for multi-crew ships.
5) NPC crewmen for multi-crew ships
6) Ship hull insurance.
7) Ship component upgrades insurance.
8) Ship cargo insurance.
9) Component replacement from degradation.
10) Ship repairs.

20) Obliviousness.

Wait, wut? Players purchase 1-4 and 9-12 from NPC vendors and not other players? That's a bit messed up IMO, but I guess is a good way to introduce money sinks, probably more necessary considering their plans to let players stockpile UIC for cash.
Clearly no need to sell number 20, no shortage of that by the devs or backers of this title.

Do you know ANYTHING about game development? Once you create a brand new tech and an editor that generate and let human hands give the final touches, creating a system is actually pretty easy. To make said tool you may need 3 years, but it's still cheaper and more time efficient than manually creating a system. It's also more useful for the future, because all the tools let you update/modify assets or even add new content with ease.
The fact that they used INCOMPLETE tools to make two systems in an hour, should tell. ( A response to someone on YouTube with the same cynical outlook. Go Figure.)

And another one who wants to act like an ass... suprise bloody surprise. Do you SCDF guys get a handbook?
Here is a simple list of some planets to feature in the game, notice how they are all unique and how there is also a huge amount of lore centered around a lot of these planets.
A large number of these will also require unique NPCs, contextual quests etc. You cannot bish, bosh, bang these things together. So take your "You don't know anything about game development" and go and buy yourself a cup of "+5 logic" with it.
An album showing concepts for cities, landing zones and various other areas on planets https://imgur.com/gallery/2VTeG but sure, keep on thinking that it's just a weekend's work once all the tools and pipelines are in place.
Here's a thought. The ship pipeline is optimised right? They've been polishing that shit for 6 years now. How long does it take a ship to go from concept to basic in-game usage? Weeks... and you guys are fantasizing about planets with all this special shit being knocked out in days. No wonder they've taken so much money if people believe that crap.
We all know that the solar system content creation is as slow as it is now because 1) focus on core mechanics and backend of the game itself 2) focus on the technology that allows that to happen (such as OCS)
So the development focus have little resources assigned to specific content creation like the creation of location, as the monthly reports do show.
So we can't claim the speed of content creation based on what it is, simply because content creation is not yet the focus. Neither it is reasonable to imply the release of the game with based on the solar systems because it's been stated only part of them will be by-release.
It's not like every single employee is working on the fluff lol, I think to pretend they are only working on the "fluff" is bit of a narrow view point, this stuff is being added in because whoever was working on it got it done, why not just add it in when it's done?
Yeah, the monthly reports do show it, the huge effort on mechanics, gameplay systems and technology is a core focus of their development team.
Yet posters here nitpick X or Y to somehow prove they aren't prioritizing the areas that need so, people who develop core systems are the actual programmers and engineers, not artists and such, and the work of artists creating fluff things like clothing brands and so for the game is irrelevant because they're not the ones creating core systems and mechanics >.> @Kefo

I’m not talking about artists especially since CIG needs to keep milking those jpeg sales. I’m talking about other people in the 500 employee count. Why bother hiring them at all if all they are going to be doing is working on fluff? Seems rather stupid to have people working on non essential shit before they actually have the core game and all essential systems in place in case things need to change.
But I really shouldn’t be that surprised. This is Chris Roberts we are talking about and he is known as being extremely wasteful.
How about 50 PERSON Squad or 50 Person Air/ground/space. Or is this a male-only version of the Alpha that will never see live? Just curious. This type of misogyny behavior is pretty unacceptable in this day and age.
Other posters would argue females would be fluff and a waste of time of important gameplay mechanics and systems. :P
(Cause animators/artists are the ones who develop those systems and mechanics in the first place, right?)
Whelp, SC is not BDO, boob physics selling point and all, can you imagine how weird that would look in space? xD

If I was using the current speed of creation then I'd be claiming 2 years per system as they were meant to deliver planets back in December 2016. But I'm not claiming that.
I just believe that it is naive and foolish even to think they can pump out systems at a speed similar to Elite because what they are doing is completely different. All the assets required at first person level, all the additional assets in general and in many cases a whole load of uniqueness. I am sure that everyone would agree that stuff adds time.
There is no such thing as non essential, if any thing needs a 3D model or any kind of vfx/motion rigging it is better to build it for a library that way it is done and can be accessed at any time.
