Defiance 2050, is it the same

I used to play Defiance a bit back and decided to give the new 2050 a shot.  The first thing I noticed is it looks like the same map, cut scenes, story.  Is the game basically the same, but just a  new skill system?

The reason I stopped playing and never looked back was the scaling they put in made it impossible for me to do anything with the higher ego players. I think I was around 3800 and when I would join an arkfall the scaling would make me useless and I would just get one shot.

Is the scaling for lower ego characters still crap?

“It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money - that's all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.”

I honestly logged back in a gave it a whirl.  It seemed so much like the same game I couldn't get past the first few levels.

It is basically the same game, same story and missions copy & pasted along with the same old bugs.

There's also a new "class" system (so, instead of being able to pick whatever skills you want, you're locked in to a certain type of character.  You can unlock different classes, apparently).

I haven't progressed that far in 2050, but, it appears EGO scaling is the same as old Defiance.

But, there's a revamped inventory system, guys!  Woohoo!  (sarcasm)

Felt almost exactly the same, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it just feels generic and out of place today, especially with no show running along side it.

It is the exact same game minus a couple of the quest being remove.  To me it was worse than the original because they locked things behind classes.

There are some subtleties, but it sure plays and feels like the exact same game.
