@DarkestOverlord I really wouldn't recommend you to play SC; not now, not ever, not even if when it releases it becomes GOTY. For the simple reason, this is always going to be a Sim, it's about figuring stuff out, it's about a ton of buttons on a cockpit you'll have to learn how to cope with, it's the essence of a sim...

...it will require a brain (as you put it) to cope with it, this is the opposite of what you should be playing. Different audiences right there.

Meh, I've met darker overlords. This one's light-ish gray at best.

Even Eve had an in-game tutorial section to.. you know, teach you how to play.  And that certainly didn't take this long to develop.  They already got me for $150.  Never again.  A well learned lesson.

Basically clicking away text windows ruins every MMO, try to have fun instead of rushing things. Without story and lore all there is left is a bunch of mechanics.

Tutorials and all tend to be the last things to get fleshed out, because doing them early will never work out as game mechanics will keep changing, hence why SC had to remove theirs when they implemented new systems and overhauled others because it just didn't cope with the changes.

There are, and I linked it on the first response, new pages that teach and explain everything there is about it for now.

People be lazy, whelp I was the same when they overhauled controls once I trying by myself to figure it out, instead of take off I rammed into another landing pad and got crime stats for it lol

So it was free flight this weekend in SC...
My friend and me installed game with high hype and here the nightmare started..first of the game was laggy and poorly optimized..even the controles was horrible prolly due to lag and bad optimizing.

Then we spend like 1 H just to join the same server and try to use the invite to party. We had to watch youtube and read guides and allmost ask in the white house just to seach for clues how to invite each other..we managed to somehow login on the same server by random chance but we never got to be in same party.

Then 30 min later we managed to find out how we got the ship ready and he choosed some kind decent looking spaceship and i choosed a dragon something..then we laughed hard because his ship was like a huge motherload of a ship and i only had this space scooter looking thing...

By now he tryed to start his spaceship and got frustratet over how to actutaly controle it and take off because he was allready bummed out of the whole game. I wanted to fly this dame thing like a last thing to do before i quit the game for good.

So i entered the ship and pressed the power on botton and something with B key to enable something that was half assed explained.
Then i pressed another key and the engine started to spin and i was ready to take off..or i was hoping to fly soon. Tnen i pressed another key that was glowing yellow..that could be the handbrake or something....But no..it was the jumpseat botton and i ejected out in space and died...

It was the most horrible game i ever tryed..no guides ..no welcome..i know some people would say
" its a use ur brain game huehuehue"  Its 2018 here people...we dont think anymore we just do stuff here and now.
Games are not ment to use ur brain anymore..wake up devs

We spend more time out of the game reading up on old and crappy guides that gave us nothing but wasted time..

And btw wasent this ment to be ready 2014 starting on it 2012..Using way 2 much time..if they need to boil this soup any longer then they will end up overboiling the meatballs and they will loose the taste..prolly allready 2 late if you ask me.

But i wish you god speed and have a great succes with ur over boiled soup *gg

judging by your grammar skills, I can understand why you probably had issues figuring out half of this stuff.

When I decided to first play EVE I printed about 10 player made guides on everything from mining (over 100 pages that one was), piracy (being one and avoiding), mission running, security, pve, and pvp tactics.

Took me about three weeks to get through them all, and then I downloaded the game for the first time.

Yes, it has a tutorial,  but was and still is not enough to begin to understand how to play and enjoy EVE.

Over the 8 or so years I subbed  I regularly sought out more player created info on the latest expansions and systems, in order to improve my enjoyment of the game.

I expect SC to be much the same, it won't be a game where I will expect to just download and "go have fun, " rather it will require some time to learn how to succeed and at least this time around much of this info is also available on video.

Won't have to kill as many trees.....

Its 19xx here people...customers dont think anymore they just do stuff here and now.
Products are not ment to use your brain anymore..wake up players

This didnt just happened yesterday. It has been for years.
Devs dont play games not even their own....but they tell thats its awesome.
And kids not only belive that, but start to defend it, even when its crucial.
    Lolz.
Its just PR and your imagination what makes you belive it fun game. Thats it.
Its not only SC, here some steam negative review on H1Z1:
    bad optimization, bad animations, cheaters...
    Go play  PUBG instead.
    Lolz.

Far cry 5 was is parody on gta 5. Also 90% of content is already exist in all other ubisoft games. Dumbest story i ever seen.

Kingdome come deliverance is parody on witcher 3. Has no story at all. And side quests are worse than in a mmos (gw2 or eso).

Metal gear solid 5 the phantom pain. Has a stupidest game mechanics ever. Has good reviews, only because of Kojima. I have no idea who is that, but apparently hes good anime director. Whole prologue-movie looks nice....(im assuming they spent 90% budget on it) after that they have no idea what to do. (Lolz).
And we can see that it was only his PR by the look on MGS survive. Which is also proves that Konami is just mediocre indi publisher. (dont forget overpriced Ground zeroes and DENUVO on MGS V).

We happy few. The "game" for adults they say. One of the quests you have to bring a doll back for some crazy hobo. Yeah, baby, thats real FUN for the adults! And ofcourse because the "game" is for adults devs doubled the price (in my county its four times) before release and dont forget season pass, everbody like to pay extra for content that was cutted out. Heres more: On release some of the dev come to crackwatch reddit and begged to buy their game because they warked 4,5 years really hard on it. After release steam user reviews was mixed, but was removed (for some reason).

People just like to get fooled. All these single player games cost more than mmo. They require powerfull PC because theres no optimization. They have no content and some of them can be completed in 10 hrs. And season pass dlcs just for couple hrs, but cost more than the game.

Monster hunter world. Requires internet connection, even for solo. Has denuvo, which dont let some people play it.  >.> *Sigh*
    Whats up with the hype?
Some people say that its the first MH game on pc. What?
I remember long time ago i played Monster hunter online cbt (for free ofc, back then it was free; i think it suppose to be f2p game). But it wasnt fun for me back then and it was popular like any other f2p  game. Whats going on? Why people want play MHW so badly, its not even mmo? Is it because it released on steam? Or because it has $60 price tag on it?

Did try it and had a steep learning curve to figure a lot of it out.  Does look promising but was hoping to try the Campaign which is not in it yet.  Definitely worth looking at a guide prior to playing to get some tips.

I know, right?  Why play a polished, complete indie gem like The Banner Saga involving apocalyptic Norse mythology, supply management, and strategic positioning on your phone when you could play a buggy, incomplete alpha like Star Citizen on PC?

Because if you want to play one MMO like SC, there is only SC. The genre really lacks a game like this, older games like SWG left a void.

Also part of why SC is so successful in funding and such, the demand is there, just not the offer, hence why this incomplete alpha retains player base.

It's not an alpha.  It's pre-alpha.  Alpha exists to test mechanics, many of which SC's base mechanics (such as functioning NPC AI or actual crafting or capital ships) do not exist in any form whatsoever right now.  Other currently existing core mechanics like the flight model are slated to be scrapped and re-done.

Which ones? AAA titles don't do that, if anything they give you early access when you purchase a game, I can't think of one in recent memory that gave a limited free play ALPHA.
AAA in terms of alpha is more uncommon, but The New World MMO is going to do it, considering that in development by Amazon I wouldn't call it any Indie MMO. AAA is more used to do this with betas and few months before release.
The new world is starting alpha sign ups right now, I haven't heard anything about them opening up a free play sessions alpha for a weekend to everyone who wants a go.  They also aren't taking crowdfunding to complete the game, but if you have other information that wasn't on the alpha release page, feel free to share it.

The reason AAA games do this before release is to stress test the servers like I mentioned.

Other ways to get into AAA titles would be to pay for the game and get early access, which is also common.

But AAA games won't open a window of time for an alpha to anyone and everyone, because it's often detrimental to the game.  Alpha weekends might be something that indie games do, like Wild West Online... but how well did it work for them?

If you're going to do an alpha weekend, and people join but get frustrated with the game, it's not the players fault, it's the developers.  If you don't want people complaining about the alpha, DON'T OPEN IT FOR EVERYONE.  It doesn't make sense.

  • SovrathSovrath Member LegendaryPosts: 32,938
What amount of hand-holding is required in your opinion so people won't get somehow offended over a goddamned free demo?
All they need to do is say "pre-alpha, this game is not finished and is still in development."

    done.

Anyone who complains after that ... well that's about "them."

I see the game has dropped its value to 35 $
Still its a completly waste of good money.

This Robert space captain is pullling ur legs here haha
But keep ur hopes up and empty ur wallets on blank game company that dosent even care about you investing in ther games. Clearly showing with no welcome or any guides.

7 years of dev wasted right there if you ask me. Roumers says this game will never be finished and is basicly a money mashine for this captain Robert

Maybe i should start a kickstart game and have people pay me billions until i declare the game project ladbroke. I rather play the lottery

The main game that I played that did that, in a like SC; persistent way, was Fortnite's Alpha, that was closed but was still available to everyone to get one invite or invite friends.

That's also why I said, AAA's specifically do this with betas, not alphas, and you don't really believe it's all to stress test the servers, it's to gather hype, it's to sell, why do you think sites as this get all those batches of BETA KEYS to giveaway? This sort of stuff is 101 Marketing, the stress/bug testing is just an added benefit.

The moment the game is open to be bought in early access, it's open to everyone, it still is one alpha, it still has the issues implied by the early stage of dev it stands on, your expectations must consider that reality.

lol go back to console games, and stay there.  Not saying the game is good but a learning curve alone certainly doesn't make it bad.  Please don't try to pollute PC gaming with dumbed down games more than it already is.
