As Sid Meier once said ... one should keep redoing a game and tweeking numbers until it feels right. Which can take quite some time. And Sid Meier - like Chris Roberts - is a Hall of Fame developer.
Can you link where Chris Roberts is in any Hall of Fame as a developer? Didn't have to search hard to find Meier, but results with Roberts as a member of one elude. I know I'm just missing it and, as they say, curiosity killed the poop cola can. Some posters around here are very adamant that anybody making a claim must source it, else it must be false and anything else one says is also disregarded by proxy.
Thank you in advance!
Gotta love the goons hateboner for everything Chris Roberts and Star Citizen lol
Besides Times of Lore, Wing Commander, Freelancer and Star Citizen making deluded goons dream about a first person eve like children on Christmas eve making them give him money to the tune of millions of dollars only to shatter their dreams, laugh in their faces while kicking their rear ends from the community is Chris Roberts most accomplished feat. What a hero.
It couldn't have turned out better if he planned for it... wait a minute....Doh!
I just asked for verification of a claim there, scooter. So, no Hall of Fame? A video interview instead. Thanks. Thought I might be missing something.
Thanks for the completely unrelated rant too. I feel so windmilly.
Since you've tried to play some psychoanalysis angle, was his fellow guest in this video a hint that we're due another Daikatana? Freudian slip perchance? Thanks for the typically Pavlovian response anyways, lapdog.
I am critic of their development process, they want to do everything at once, that's why the game seems like a mess.
But in their defence, I have to say that most people don't get what SC actually is. SC is a space simulator, it's not an arcade, so when people say that it is too difficult to learn how control a ship it's because it's intended. If you ever played a flight simulator most of your time will be spent learning the controls, SC is the same, but in space.
I have a starting pack and last time I tried the game was more than a year ago but even then it had a decent tutorial and I learned to drive the ship in just over an hour, so I don't understand the complaints.
I think their biggest issue (OK.. maybe not THE biggest but it's up there) is that they decided to develop 2 games at the same time. A start-up studio producing 1 game is a hard task. 2 at the same time is just being over-confident to a silly degree.
The should have focused on building Squadron 42. Proved they can release a decent game. Then turned the focus to Star Citizen. Yes, I know the whole story about developing both to save time/money etc... but after looking at the time passed, and money spent... I think it's safe to say it was a mistake.
I mean... seeing this video back in 2015 was a great sign of hope: https://youtu.be/3vRE6LtYBHg Now it's almost 3 years later. In that time, they have released 2 entire Star Wars Trilogy movies (although I certainly wish they hadn't released the last one) as well as 2 non-core ones.
Think about this: There is a legitimate chance that Star Wars Episode 9 releases before Star Citizen or even Squadron 42.
Let that sink in for a few minutes.
An entire Star Wars trilogy could possibly be seen on screen (7, 8 and 9)... in less time than it is taking to make Squadron 42 (and Star Citizen).
Cmon Slap, entire skyscrapers are built in less time than it is taking to build these two games.
In fact, in what will be the world's tallest building, the Jeddah Tower started construction in 2013, and is projected for completion in 2020.
Think about that....also, at a projected cost of $1.4B for its MMP, seems like SC may end up costing about 20% of it.
Of course, creating the world's tallest structure is much less complicated than what Roberts Industries is trying to build. (LULZ...OK)
I should have bought a kickstarter package for this project I think.

Has both jack AND shit to do with your claim that Chris Roberts is a Hall of Fame developer.
Games he worked on have been inducted into the CGW Hall of Fame.
There are specific developers who have also been inducted into the CGW Hall of Fame, as well as multiple other Halls of Fame for the computer gaming, video gaming, and entertainment industries. Sid Meier is one. Chris Roberts is not one of those developers however; unless he, you, and everyone else, is keeping it a big secret. Which would be way out of character, but roleplaying, yo!
I will assume you cannot source your claim so we're going to wiggle the target around for a while now

Ohh please! I made two children since SC had a Kickstarter, now THAT is hard work and an achievement.

I congratulate HER.

Nah, I am in the Still Confident camp with them
As for SC, I went in late with only a starter package. I knew what I was getting into for a comfortable amount of money, as everybody should. No regrets there, I am a patient man.

I know it's the way with a lot of gamers nowadays to be ungrateful and petty. We're at a day and age where entitlement is everything and all the "good" things are easily wiped from the face of the earth while the "bad" things become carved in stone lol

90 days top and all
Yeah stop being ungrateful gamers by paying the guy ~200 mil, keep paying more and letting him release the game whenever he wants in whatever state he wants with whatever features he wants.
Chris Roberts will keep on making the dream space-game and getting millions in the process while goons and haters loudly cry in the corners of the web with "humour"
People that spend money on this are never going to trash it. If it comes out 10 years from now they will still love it and think it was money spent wisely. If you drop 10k on it what are you going to say.

It's like staring at a turd you paid for, thinking it is going to turn into a bar of gold at any minute.
I watched some streaming of the free trial of SC. From what I saw, some players had a lot of bugs, while others had a relatively bug-free experience. One thing that seemed to be a common thread was that people had a hard time figuring the game out. I still don't know what to think, honestly.
For those who have invested in the game, especially at a significant level, and played for a while, are you doubting that investment these days? Or are you still confident that SC will be great?
Zero issues here. I backed Kickstarter with the full undestanding that it'll be ready when it's ready.
I jump in from time to time and dabble in their alpha. Things are progressing, I see forward momentum regularly, their monthly newsletters are jam-packed with great info on progress, and I'm not worried about current lack of polish, bugs, or lack of a user expereince becauuuuuuse.....
Most of the biggest haters are backers or ex.backers They were once the biggest Star Citizen fanboys, probably too much emotional investment for so little clue about game develoment. That's the core of their frustration basicaly. Not understanding what they were falling in love with and fealing "cheated".
Most have moved on but the real crazy ones (goons) became those creepy stalkers who can't let go lol
They are the ones who once dedicated their life to promote Star Citizen, spent thousands of dollars in it, recruited acrossed the world to make their dream eve in first person game who turned sour, petty and hatefull. Now going to full lenghts as attacking devs, fellow backers, even family members... That's their life now.
Making up refund stories, drama concerns and such lol
Then you have the fanboys of other games similar to star citizen like elite fanboys who feel threatened by it that will jump into any chance to attack it lol
They just got an update so they are busy atm but once they get bored again they will be here nagging about the usual nonsense whille we playtest things they can only dream off

Slow down there big fella. Many defenders are at LEAST as emotionally invested. I'd wager to say there are a few even more emotionally tied up in the success of the game than is healthy.

The provocation crown is firmly on the head of your mate over there... I have no illusions of contesting it.
