I've heard it's not the best tool in the shed when it comes to massive open world battles (something this game is very much about) you think they'll be able to work around it? it's one of the things that worries me the most about this project.

    No I completely agree. Unreal is not the ideal choice for an mmorpg engine in today's market (imo) but it is pliable and has had success at varying degrees in the past and present. Aion (and Aion Next Gen in UE4), Blade and Soul, City of Titans, Sea of Thieves, Tera,The new Lineage (TL) even a couple of older titles like Chronicles of Spellborn rip =/ and Vanguard
    I would have liked to have seen them perhaps use an engine like Unigine but I am still a big fan of the UE and know in the right hands it will do just fine. 



    But most of those game don't have a focus on large scale grouping or open world PVP / sieging, I know they said they're writing most of the code themselves in the back end, so UE doesn't do much of the work ( or something like that don't know how it works) but how far can they push it and circumvent the limitations of UE. And again most of those titles aren't about having (50+ players on the same spot) as there been any game done in UE with that type of gameplay in mind?
    Well, alpha is just around the corner, we'll soon find out.

    that's exaggerating a bit, don't you think? I mean how can you call it vaporware when it has already been playtested in various stages by actual players and is currently undergoing alpha testing?

    He’s right about most internet sites and forums in general.
    The problem with this line of thinking is this is exactly why these third party venues are going the way of the dinosaurs. While I won't argue the internet as a whole is certainly a hive of scum and villainy, allowing these companies to only allow discussion about their products in their own personal fiefdoms where they control the narrative with an iron fist is not in any way healthy for the consumer. That's the problem with the free association of ideas, it tends to turn to anarchy. But in my not so humble opinion that is still far better than self enforced internet fascism.

    Slapshot... is there actually ANY MMO that you are positive about...?
    All I see you doing on this site with every post is wage campaigns against certain devs (like the CoE  guy) and titles... don't get me wrong, I generally love your posts... but still... :P

    It's not longer playing Devil's Advocate when the only thing you do is bash them for their flaws. And that's something a lot of people on these sites seem to forget. It's constant negativity. Good features get taken for granted. They're apparently not even worth bringing up.

    And then of course you have the legion of trolls, and bitter MMO players who will attack any new title that isn't a return to the Y2K "golden age".

    I do not trust Steven Shariff anymore since the whole EU publisher shitmove where he basically lied to people by pretending till late 2017 to be self publishing and then pulling the worst publisher for the EU in the form of MY.com out of his ass. My.com hat a long history in the EU of shady business practices, account security issues, performance of their servers and horrible customer service.

    Intrepid Studion did not even have the decency to offer people refunds... They could learn a bit from Marc Jacobs in that regards. The only thing i can say is, stay away from this game until it is released and you exactly know what´s on the table. Steven Shariff has no problem to promise you anything and doing the exact opposite.

    I can't take any of these new games serious, because they don't have serious beta environments. They continue to pass out content to "backers" without actually improving on anything. I would image most of this game is done already, and they liek many are just releasing chunks at a time to find more moeny. This is where this industry has turned, and it is #boring
    Odd, says only 7 posts but I could swear yours was an older account with many more posts.  Weren't you a regular here at one time?

    In all fairness they really haven't been working on this game for very long, I believe their KSer ended only last summer though it was clear from what they showed back then they had already gotten started.

    Cross server competition with things like dungeon access is great. One thing I loved about Horizon known as Istaria was the community crafting. Being able to have groups of people get together to build a bridge to access a higher tier crafting material or even unlock a race was nothing but awesome. So yes, some server had access to different race, tier of material and parts of the world, it was all about working together through a great server competition.. Since then I have lost interest in mmorpg has they are mostly geared towards single player gaming with live people around you..
