Let's face it...this is no longer the company that so many of us grew to like over the years. Most of the people that made this game what it is, have either retired or moved on to different projects. The azerite system as a whole is a huge letdown, class design is awful and I don't enjoy playing classes like I use to. Everything just feels like legion 2.0 with worse progression systems, terrible class design and balance.
They used to wait until they knew the product would be polished and ready to announce release dates. Maybe times have changed such that they need more lead time for retailers to list their products?
<snip>
There are only two options: 1: Blizzzard knew about the bugs and launched anyway 2. Blizzard didn't know about the bugs and must be considered incomp[etent.
Things changed with the break from Vivendi. As a result Activision Blizzard report directly to AB shareholders. AB now gives dates to shareholders. Dates which impacts cash flow and profits. Especially when a case can be made that King's performance doesn't justify the price AB paid. You can imagine a discussion along the lines of:
"Expansion ready for release". "Err .... not really". "Well you knew the date you should have put the people you needed on it." "Well we did what we could but we were limited by the budget". "That's the way it is post King. Anyway you are releasing." "Lots of bugs still to fix; find even." "You releasing or resigning?" "Errrr .... releasing".
You forgot to mention a big bug for one progression group. They had done heroic G'huun week 1. However G'huun fell through the floor after dying and no one got loot or credit. However the raid tab and lockout both showed G'huun had been killed. After trying for days to get in touch with a gm they were told "We cannot grant you achievements, if you really killed him do it again next week." despite the fact logs and screenshots were shown. It is very prestigous to get a week 1 pre nerf kill and basically telling the people how legitimately achieved this to bad, do it again and hope it doesn't bug out next time is extremely unprofessional and a big let down.
Pro tip: there is nothing "prestigious" about accomplishing anything in a video game.
Don't believe me? Ask if you would put such an "accomplishment" in your resume, biography or obituary?
Depends on the accomplishment? Unless you dont think universities like the University of Michigan dont offer 4 year scholarships to LoL players.
Eh, I currently hold the school record for single-season rushing yards at my high school. Every college (pretty much) gives football scholarships, but I still don't consider that a prestigious accomplishment. It's high school football.
Perhaps this is systemic of a larger problem. I noticed Destiny 2 was pretty much rock solid network wise for me right up until Warmind, after that I've had all kinds of connection problems. I can still play but now two or three network errors a session has become the norm for me on this game. I ended up giving the latest WoW expansion a pass so can't say anything about that. I'll have to log into Diablo and see how that's working. Perhaps the rubber band needs changing. :-)

there's no denying they're just chasing the box sales right now.. just glad that thanks to the garrison system of WoD and Legion + the addition of the tokens/battle net balance that i didn't have to pay for this one. had i spent my own money on it i would probably very salty.
but looks like they're cracking down on gold generation aswell now.
i will keep playing til my current sub runs out and i've maxed the reps and then i'll take a break til the next patch and hopefully by then the advertized races of the expansion will be available.
Isn't this just a way for Blizz to say hey look at us we are working on fixing the game. Sure they are bug squashing but you dont need to spend more than 10 minutes on WOW's forums to see majority of the outrage and people cancelling their subs isn't about bugs at all. Its about the core flaws with their expansion design and choices.

I made 100k in a single day today. I spent the week casually searching for plants and fishing in Kul Tiras. In addition to other things picked up along the way during questing and through scrapping gear, I collected it all week and placed it all on the AH today. EVERYTHING sold within an hour for 100k total
Finally had some shitty weather this weekend, so I got my priest to 110 ready to start BfA
Now you guys are all pissing on my parade /jk
What's the deal with Shadow priests and Shamans?
Shaman (all 3 specs) and shadow priest are both great right now. People who are complaining really don't understand how to play their class. They just look at a log and see they aren't the top dps and assume its bad without taking into account any of the other things the classes can do. Don't shy away from them because of the forum warriors out there.

Even Blizzard via Ion Hazzikostas admitted that Shadow Priests and Shaman were in a bad spot but that they wouldn't have time to "fix them" until v8.1.

shieet!.. i never bothered with that playing the AH stuff it's just not fun for me. i did notice that some fish in Boralus vendor for 50g a piece though. but that's usually how things go in the beginning when people want to max stuff fast. also i'm pretty sure that sale had to do with the Warfront contribution. now that people seen the warfronts i doubt they'll be in a rush to contribute so it'll get automated thus lowering the demand of everything.

If it makes you feel any better, I haven't encountered a single thing I needed beyond flying training, some bags, and a few gems for my prismaticd back in Legion. Literally like 30k gold max for those items in total. I've found nothing beyond that I felt was a necessary gold sink. Unless you're a transmog nut or wanna craft without gathering mats yourself, I can't see how you would need any more gold than that.

yeah i know since i found out i could pay for the game with gold that's pretty much all i use it for. and in the 2 prior expansions it was very easy to get get the gold required even for someone like me who's not interested in making gold.
i just meant it seems like they noticed and aren't as keen on throwing gold at us anymore :P

Tbh, it does feel like Blizzard doesn't even know how classes operate anymore (or how they should operate). It just feels like they are obsessed with this 'new system' of how they can take stuff away and give back to the players without actually introducing anything new past 100. We haven't learned a single new thing, not even a passive since 100. If anything we keep having more things gutted or split between pvp and pve to give the illusion of 'growth.' I mean even something as basic as honor amongst thieves for rogues was kind of nice in pve since you got an extra combo point here and there. I think what has pissed me off the most for some reason is them taking 'frozen center' from pve options for frost dk (since they wanted to rename it to make it seem like its new) ontop of seeing some old passives and even glyphs being put into the talent tree to make it seem like 'we got something new' like deathchill (was a passive in wod) or death's reach (used to be a glyph). We can't even get conquest back as a currency because Ion fears being able to buy the gear you want from a vendor would break the game after you were able to do it for a decade.....
The long term fix to this is to end the progression at some point. Progression needs to have a conclusion or it loses its point. The game is trying to endlessly recycle progression when it should end it.
If they do that they can once again make that curve interesting and rewarding. Why was Vanilla and BC progression interesting? The curve made sense and had an end point. That's why it was called "end game". Moving that goalpost continues to hurt not only the game but the entire industry (because they're all doing it too).
The idea of endless progression is a lie that they've sold themselves and bought at a markup (AH fees ).
I figured that out a out a week after our server first H Nef kill back in Cata. The hamster wheel is real... I have not played WoW. I couldn’t stomach every few months the shit that I worked so hard to earn literally turned to junk.
I basically hit 120, 2 days after launch. My sub ran out the day after and I decided not to renew for now. I will once I notice or hear from friends that stuff has improved, but I've been honestly disappointed with the utter lack of polish. By now we should be able to expect better from a company that delivered a (to me) pretty decent experience with the launch of Legion. Instead we've gone backwards in that aspect.
Sure, it looks pretty damn nice, but once you look past the pretty pictures, there's a lot of little annoyances right off the bat at 120 and to me the classes feel rather uninspired this expansion, or perhaps one needs to play FotM in order to get the full experience, I dunno. Either way I'll keep track of patchnotes and my friends and perhaps check back in a month or.. whenever.

Same reason I still think FFXIV 1.0 should have been fixed; not transformed into WoW.
I'm totally blown away. Is this really the same company that created the most popular MMORPG of all times about 15 years ago?
Since patch 2.3 and on i've seen stuff coming into game that must be a mistake, it got to be a mistake, and every time i've been wrong - those patches are always working as intended even tho they don't make sense to me at all.
It's been several years now when someone on these forums suspected Blizzard are bored with the game and have begun to troll their players, which ofc is ridiculous, but it's getting more and more plausible theory, i'm afraid.
"when Warfronts flipped from Alliance to Horde, the ability to queue for anything (dungeons, PvP, etc.) was broken"
lol, yea, loved that one, prob was, if you moved, it cancled.
and with nowadays adhs players, this obviously fucked em up like hell :P
i applied once, thing got cancled (simply bc someone declined), and on the second attement it worked.
finished my warfront, came back to the crying horde of players complaining they can't apply because the "system is so fucking broken", applied again, got in again ofc, and finished my 2nd warfront just in time before my raid
so, i'd say hf complaining, while i play without bugs, not sure how i did that tho :P
"I'll never grow up, never grow up, never grow up! Not me!"
Yeah, that "I'd prefer WoD right now" line caught me off guard a little. I'm still debating if I'd go that far atm, but honestly, I might be in the minority in thinking that only half of WoD was bad. I didn't care for the first raid (mainly because Kargath deserved his own raid tier imo) but BRF was so freaking well done and Blackhand has to be one of the best raid bosses in a while. Aside from that though, the rest was pretty forgetting for me since I honestly never cared about the Legion in terms of aesthetic (so much damn green).

it had nothing to do with movement.. most people just stood there waiting. you probably just started queueing up once it was fixed and thought you where some kind of special.
I lasted about 2 weeks. Mostly for nostalgic reason. My usual routine - come back for an expansion and level up, do the heroic dungeons, get bored. Then i usually check in a few months later just to try the raids in LFR, and i last for 1-2 weeks more.
My girlfriend, who is not a "WoW/MMO-veteran", got bored after 2 levels. We have played quite a few hours of 1.12 together in the past and had a really good time doing so, but for retail she literally goes "What is this bullshit? Why is everything so easy?" as we facesmash our keyboards and steamroll everything we face.
Grand daddy's complain about (I don't even know how old exactly) game trying to keep "modern" - not sure what word to use exactly....ofc you disagree, I'll complain too in 20 years just like you ...I have bug free experience till warfronts tbh (but queue was broken like 4 hours) so I wouldn't make drama of this, gosh!
