Looks like a interesting game but is there any pvp?
Just curious
Anyone play AC2 or Saga of Ryzom--How does this game compare?

Snowball PvP is fun
Direct PvP - yes with snowballs
Indirect PvP - yes, more so with the new monster aggro changes
It is unlikely that they will introduce pvp -- and the community in horizons does not miss it at all.
Think of the life we have at the moment: No ganking, no losing of mob drops, no cowardly attackers who whine when they themselves are the target... We are truly blessed
A lot of players would actually be seriously tempted to leave horizons if pvp was introduced, at least if it wasn't restricted to an arena and duels would be in mutual consent.
I would certainly change my habits and never sell any crafted item to a non-guildie -- I couldn't be sure that it wasn't used against me or my guild some day.
No PvP, and probably won't be for a very very long time. Alot of Horizons players are dead set against it, but I believe there is still alot who would welcome some consentual or arena based only pvp, but then everyone would start whinning about class balancing issues . My guess is, is if they ever do it will be released as a seperate game sorta.
Personally, I think arena based pvp would be cool to see in the game (arena near Tazoon? ... perfect ).

I know I for one won't give a damn about school balancing. How do you balance schools against each other when bipeds multischool their way to becoming powerful ? I know others will disagree with me and say balancing is important, some will even point out that the developers themselves have brought up the subject of school balancing.
Despite that, if PvP existed in small quantities such as the Arena, or an island introduced solely for PvP then there's no real need to focus all the developer attention on school balancing since any work they do will 1) be seen as nerfs by various players and 2) the work will be bypassed with multischooling.
There's also the argument of attracting the 'leet kiddies' as the PvP crowd is sometimes referred to. Sure a few of them will try Horizons if they heard the game had some form of PvP. I can guarantee that the majority of them who signed up just to grief other players will soon quit when the realisation hit home that the only type of PvP would be arena based, ie consentual, challenge-acceptance PvP, in a confined area.

But when you dragons need a potion or some jewels for hoard or nice hoardable mob drops, yeah THEN its 'thankee snickel' and 'very much obliged snickel' -- and as soon as I turn my back these nasty jokes resurface! Even the cute little hatchlings have caught the habit!

Well I've been there the whole time, The Watch, Iron Giants, Knights of Ni, Twilight Crusaders, I've been there every time the guild merged and transformed. I was there when Cylian sold the guild plot and gave the money away, I was there when enough money was made to buy the guild plot back.
Oh and I always made my own potions

Any of the horizons players ever play Dark Ages of Camelot?
Thats a mutual pvp system that is better than just duels and small arenas.
Would the community be completely against that idea as well?
Some Hz players are even against duels and the like. Factional PVP? Fuggetaboutit.

to be honest I don't mind waiting for a PvP feature to be introduced, it's not top of my list because the devs are working on much more important things.
Like I already said in previous posts though, I'm all for arena PvP, when that time comes if you'll step into the arena with me I'll show you what it means to mock a carebear
