I applaud their aggressive stance however, there is more to it than what simply meets the eye.
If he did not try to profit from it ,the lawsuit would be a much tougher go,so his stupidity and greed will cost him. There is a bigger problem in gaming and i often flame Blizzard for being one of the biggest proponents of the problem. I don't like cheats and i don't like anyone promoting it or supporting it.
The bigger issue at hand?MONEY...$$$$$,gaming is no longer about a fun pastime/hobby it has become a huge platform for making money as a streamer or a pro and or sponsors also cashing in on it. In a sense,i would imagine that EPIC owns the rights to streamers profiting from THEIR copyrighted product. The streamers ,pros are using the copyright title in their stream title and tournaments. Now obviously EPIC is not stupid,if you start stepping on the hands of every person trying to profit, your game goers into the dumpster.
Now another angle, problem one that is never mentioned yet being a very long time online gamer,i know all the angles. So they condone cheating eh,so much so they will sue eh.ok.Anyone know what a AIMBOT is?These are all scripts, same thing goes for scripting multiple key presses into one.Not every player, matter of fact i would bet less than 5-10% understand scripting,so a VERY high majority of the FN population have an unfair disadvantage to those who can write scripts. Scripting, aside from aimbots,is allowed by EPIC,so in essence they ALLOW an unfair advantage, then come out and cry foul.Sure mild scripting is nowhere near as powerful as an aimbot but it DOES matter and quite a bit.
So imagine a guy like Ninja, rated one of the top pro FN players can't use any scripts, loses 25% more, perhaps his popularity drops by 25%,how much money does that equate to?Point being that EPIC games had better darn well make sure the playing platform is 100% EVEN...FAIR for everyone before pointing the finger at anyone else.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
