If you woke up today thinking that it's "just another Wednesday", have we got news for you! It appears that Hellgate: London, originally developed at Bill Roper's Flagship Studios, is coming back to Steam. After Hanbitsoft bought the rights to Hellgate: London in 2010, it went largely silent after it failed as a F2P title (2011) before turning up again in 2014, this time on Steam Greenlight. Perhaps the 2018 version will prove that the third time is the charm?

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.
It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.
It is just huge resource waste....'

Considering the popularity of games like Destiny today, hellgate seemed way ahead of its time. It was a cool idea.
I really enjoyed the game back in the day. I don't know how fun it would be as a single player game, but I'm hoping if it generates enough players, they might enable the multiplayer again? Who knows. Either way I'll probably try it again if it re releases.
