Trying to locate an older roguelike

Hey guys, I'm trying to remember the name of an older (I think), popular roguelike that someone recommended before.  It's not TOME.  I only played it for a tiny bit and remember that it had no sound, had pretty vibrant colors and I think it showed capes when you equipped them.  And there was a tutorial.  Pretty vague, I know.  Any ideas?
