I really wanna play this, but don't think I'll bother trying the beta in Korean. If I end up really liking it will be a torture to wait another at least 1-2 years before it comes to west.

I just hope they bring it to us rather fast. And also with a rather good Publisher.
Time will tell and until then i have my fingers crossed.

I think the Korean artists didn't get the memo that over the top ridiculous design is laughed at in the west.

Tbh, I expect they got the memo and binned it, lol

They make their games for their home market, any revenue they can squeeze out of other regions at some point is just a windfall.

They might know that but they shouldn't change it.

If one's going to watch a foreign movie then subtitles are the way to go. And one has to take into account that they are watching a movie from another culture and that culture will have different ways of seeing things.

It's as if some western players are not interested in actually playing eastern games. They just want someone to make another game that tailors to their western tastes.

Sadly the game is looking dated already.

The choppiness of the gameplay due to mobs locking animation on hit - just looks like "stunlock blob and AoE" over and over again.

The game is about 2 years too late to the party at this point.
You say that, but Diablo style games have been stagnant for years now. They aren't a genre that continually raises the bar, but instead one that jumps forward in short bursts before settling down into years-long lull periods. Now is as good a time as any for a new competitor to enter, until such a time as the next big leap happens. But if Lost Ark is to succeed, it has to get to market before that next big leap, or somehow (doubtfully) be it.

Looks amazing especially with the ship sailing. Please dont take forever to release in the West and dont give this game to some publisher like Areia Games.

Aeria Games could release the greatest game ever made and I still wouldn't touch it. Hell, Aeria Games could obtain the rights to my favorite games that I already play, and I would still steer clear.

I still have them on permanent boycott after they discounted Aeria points close to the release date for Realm of the Titans, canceled the game after keeping it in beta-phase Hell, and then banned my account, with Aeria points on it, for complaining about it.

    Fuck them.

The thing is - Lost Ark reception in Korea has been very luke-warm, which has led to a 2 year delay as they kept trying to fix the issues to get more traction.

The thing is - it hasn't worked - Koreans are very much "meh" towards Lost Ark after all these betas and all the fixes - the game is not really blowing anyone out of the water.

I think if it ever comes to the west - the game will meet the same fate as other Korean MMO-Hybrids like Devillian etc.. - aka low retention and a nosedive in population - flash in the pan.
I'm not arguing that. That is a different point entirely. I argued your stance that it is two years late to the party, by saying "what party?"

Lost Ark will succeed or fail only by its own merits, unless the next great leap in this genre happens before its launch.

The guy in the right of the picture is in all white yet looks so emo, I'd say that's pretty impressive.

As opposed to the Diablo/PoE endgame of "Passively kill everything and AoE anything that survives by spamming infinitely"?

At least there's some actual strategy/skill involved in this.

I have high hopes that we'll get it in the west. But I'm guessing another 7 years before that happens.. Of course I'm basing this number off of nothing.

7 years and Project TL and/or Diablo 4 will take any audience this game could have had.

If there is not a loot grind that is fun then I have no desire. Diablo and PoE both have that. A little too easy in some ways but it is what made me want to keep playing. I have not kept track of this game so was very interested but all that went away just now from ready that loot is not important.

This game looks like it is/has been fully playable for a couple years yet it's in this perpetual Alpha/Beta phase. I've seen way too many aspects of gameplay. Between this and the fact that it's Korean which means this won't hit American soil until 2 years after, plus the American publisher will have 0 say in adjusting the game... cool story bro.

Awww! They start with these breathtaking views, looks like a truly epic world to see and explore, gorgeous women and ... well, maybe some women find the men handsome, at least they're big and muscular enough... and those overblown costumes... -- BUT then they get to the actual gameplay and... OH NO, way overhead isometric view of tiny figure with outrageous oversize overblown combat animations....

    (sigh)

    No, thanks.

But in Path of Exile we can't call upon a Spirit Bomb to descend upon our enemies :)

Isometric view is so 90's.  Might have been quite good then, but is just cheesy today.

You say as incredibly well-received games such as Divinity Original Sin 1 & 2 show that isometric camera is still a legitimate perspective today.

Wow you really are out of tune. This view is precisely what a lot of us like in these games. There's nothing 90's about it anymore than any other "view"
