Solving fatal error problem in Bard's Tale IV
I hope (touch wood) this solution will help others who might have encountered this issue.
I had this problem when I reached Baedish Lowlands where my fight towards the very end (yes its annoying it is at the end because some of the fights are long) that I would get a error message and had to close the game down using the task manager. I was unable to get past this fight and finally I solved it by going back two saves sometimes one may have to go back further to solve it. Each time this happens go back several saves until you can pass the fight without errors and it never works if you choose the save just before the fight.
Also do not use the 'pillar of fire' skill from the Horn you get in the adventurer's guild for ordering the game. I have noticed it increases the possibility of this error happening and also any dot skill any party member might have. I am now in Inshriach and almost to Mathan's Glade.
I do enjoy this game a lot and despite it being in first person view which is an anathema to me as I get awful headaches by upping the FOV to 110 and turning off headbob I have been able to play. I really like the puzzles and combat. Hope this helps anyone that might have this problem.
