Hellgate: London has arrived, sadly without its multiplayer component. However, in its day, it was ahead of its time for fans of sci-fi action RPGs. You can now relive those heady days thanks to the latest Steam release of the game from Hanbitsoft. Hellgate: London will eventually be updated with the Tokyo content, but developers are still at work improving its stability and to ensure smooth gameplay.

Oh for $10 why not? :D Of course, without multiplayer...dunno. Hopefully it'll be added soon.

Whoa I thought this was the North American original release, turns out it's the bastardized Korean one where it has lower resolution models, engrish translations, and a ton of bugs.

Don't buy it. If you were a fan of the ORIGINAL one, this is NOT that. Do yourself a favor and buy the original game through E-bay or something, don't pirate. -edit

I was a little disappointed with the downgraded graphics. I hope it improves. Bought it but will wait to play.

I would pay $15 for it if it had robust multiplayer support!

Don't buy it. If you were a fan of the ORIGINAL one, this is NOT that. Do yourself a favor and just pirate the original release, it's 10x better than this.
Advocating piracy on a game site is kinda...not smart, even with your "I don't condone piracy" caveat. Maybe it's better to just not play it at all.

I'll wait for the Tokyo version and hope for multiplayer for awhile too. Honestly, I loved the game then, but even a AAA version of it today still might not live up to my memories. But we'll see. :)

Maybe. Edited the original post, but I think my first post still stands on it's own merit. Korean company buying an IP, making into a F2P game with horrible MTs, then when it's failing, rereleasing it as a single player game for 12 bucks.
Not cool. Specially since the original one was actually pretty decent.

downgrade from the graphics? they look the same to me, since its the korean version AGAIN, the story should be the serious one like the multiplayer fail game, so meh really, was far better if tehy make a hellgate tokyo a new standalone game with improved mechs and all, but they sure are lacking the creativity for this
FOR HONOR, FOR FREEDOM.... and for some money.

Yes definite downgrade if you compare them. I have the original discs and revival and the graphics in the Steam release look faded and dull. No definition either. I launched the steam version and then played for a bit then I tried the Revival one and it was very obvious the Revival one is very crisp and vivid the colours and detail.

The reason is because if I'm not mistaken this is the global version and it is a well known fact that global downgraded the graphics.

I'm thinking that this single player/multiplayer separation is there to add stability and value. This game has gone down several times already, and buyers need to know that if they buy it again, they get to keep it.

You can play the multiplayer of Hellgate:London with the London2038 community:
    https://london2038.com/
All you need is an old copy of the game, install the patcher and have fun with better graphics than the downgraded steam version ;)

They announced this with the release yesterday ....  Talk is its going to be 2 weeks for Tokyo on Steam ..

    Heroes,

This day has come! We are happy to announce that HELLGATE:London is finally released! Once again, we want to extend our thanks for all the attention and love you have been showing for past 3 weeks.

As the game is out, we have one more announcement to make. We hope for your kind understanding on this matter.

As it was mentioned before, HELLGATE: London Steam Version has the latest update client of the Tokyo Version, which has all improved UI / UX / Content.
However, due to internal circumstances, Tokyo content is temporarily unavailable in order to provide you with a smooth gameplay. Once stability of the Tokyo Main Quest is settled, you will receive a notice for FREE UPDATE. Until then you can still enjoy playing London, Stonehenge, Second Attack and Abyss maps.

*In addition to what has already been mentioned, game doesn't contain cash-shop or mictrotransactions. Items can be purchased with palladium obtained by hunting monsters. Further update of the Tokyo Map will also be available at no charge.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your prompt attention to this matter.

    Thank you,
    HanbitSoft

Unfortunately yes. It is the Tokyo version which means global and global downgraded the graphics. I guess because I played Revival not too long ago I immediately noticed it.

Yeah all the butt hurt over no MP is stupid. I played this when it was global with mp. I never even saw that many other players. So this is telling me that these people crying about mp are just trolling. When i played global i would see maybe two other players in a week. The chat ingame was dead too. Most people were playing it like a single player game anyways.

The game wasn't downgraded in graphics either. So far i'm seeing alot of trolling on the steam boards and people giving the game bad reviews over no mp. Some have been called out on false bug reports to now. This all about the gamer community and how it really has turned into crap with complaints for minor things. The biggest one with people that bought the game 11 years ago complaining that they can't use their cd key with this one.

The version on steam is global and it was downgraded when they released it  as F2P version with MT. I don't give a damn about the MP.

On this site for revival they even talk about the HD pack.

    https://www.hellgateaus.info/forum/hellgate-global-updates/hellgate-global-hd-textures/

If you do not have both games you don't notice it. I happen to have both on my computer right now.

EDIT: crap I wanted to take screenshots so I logged on to my revival engineer on the steam client now she has disappeared from the revival character selection. They share the same save files but when you save the screenshot one says DX10 x64 the other x86. I was such an idiot I should have done a back up copy of the folder.

You may try the 'restore previous version' function of Windows OS. By default this feature is turned on for the system drive C (unfortunately, for other drives it has to be turned on manually), so If You are lucky, and the game keeps its data inside your 'My Documents' folder - right click the game's folder and select 'restore previous version' option. It opens another window with the list of restore points which You can browse as normal folders and copy files from there

Don't know why people are going on about the gfx. They were never that good in the original. I played plenty of global and it is still a lot of fun. Hoping they get multi-player happening. I had a ton o fun playing it with friends many of whom would come back in a heartbeat if it were reinstated.

I noticed one thing,  since I now have both versions, the Steam version linked to my original for my characters.  Also when I then after I quit the Steam version and loaded up the original, the character I chose to play in the Steam version was no longer showing on my list on the original version. The only thing they share is the HD, otherwise they are in different directories. Strange behavior.

On my rig frame rate randomly dropped to 0 very often. Couldn't tolerate it anymore.
