Tired of MMO's or gaming all together?

I just can't really enjoy games anymore like i used to?
What MMO's sould i play?
World of Warcraft looks way to old for me... if it had modern graphics maybe i could enjoy it a little
I keep trying the elder scrolls online but somehow i just stop after a hour of play it cant really hold my interests for a long time.
Then we have Final Fantasy 14... the story is just way to long and goes on and on til i want to quit

Then i also played a few older/smaller MMO's like Lord of the Rings Online and Star Wars the old Republic... but that is even worse and even less appealing.

Then i am trying some PlayStation 4 single player games like Shadow of War, FarCry Primal, Final Fantasy 15
Ok i did enjoy Fallout 4 and Dragon Age Inquisition somewhat... but it is not blowing me away... tho i did do finish these games a few years ago. But at this time no single player game is holding my interest becose i want the feel of an mmo that the world is alive and that there other players online...

My only hope is the Elder scrolls online i guess ... at least thats the best MMO's that looks decent enough to keep me a bid interested
Maybe i sould focus more on dungeons with other players then the story.

Or i sould just focus on single player games and quit all MMO's... at least the single player games have amazing graphics and great story and boss fights... it may be a bid more entertaining then the Elder scrolls online

Or quit gaming all together and find a different hobby

i hope there is some sort a solution out there...

Thank you for any help

    try something different.
i pretty much played mmo's exclusively even though i had grown tired with the stale nature of it all.. only reason i got into it was because a friend was playing and even though he quit almost a decade ago i was still going.

my jam is all about the sci-fi stuff and to me i saw great potential in the mmorpg genre. sadly pretty much 99% of the devs are about that fantasy stuff.

if you can't find what you're looking for in a genre it's probably best to start looking eleswhere.
but it doesn't mean you have to abandon it.

MMO's are not as good as i think they are...
thats true tho i did play World of Warcraft for many years... but now i just cant stand the looks anymore if you compare WoW to Assassin Creed Odyssey ... WoW is just Minecraft

Maybe i sould stick with single player games... most of the things in single players are far better then in MMO's tho what i like about MMO's is to have friends and group accomplishments

I know the best thing to do is to quit MMO's for now

And maybe i sould delete all MMO's from my computer so i don't get drawn to them like i always do... but thats kind of drastic

Then do it. You know what's the best for you.

Just to protect you from addiction blowback: Do you have any idea what to play after you quit MMOs? Any immediate replacements?
Well i probably get a good game this Christmas for my Playstation 4

It be God of War 4 or Assasins Creed Odysseys...
Im sure i will enjoy either one of them for a while :)

Tho as i don't have them yet im still thinking about trying out
Black Desert Online... But im not sure about it

FarCry 5 could be my best game ever, where FarCry Primal was my worst.  Witcher 3 is a Great game also.  All mmorpgs are watered down anymore.  I think many have put them down as a late.

Bingo! This is what it sounds like you want to do.

I'm starting to think these discussions is like therapy for gamers.

    Try Arena Games.

They are fast, shallow, brutalizing fun, that you never feel like you need to invest long stretches of time with.

I am playing Eternal Crusade, and it is the worst game I have ever played, it grinds my teeth how bad the game mechanics are in this game, but I love the way the battles work.. as such I am still playing this rage quite simulator..

We would need to know how much gaming the OP does, and how much of that is MMOs. If you do a lot of MMO gaming then give MMOs a few months break. The OP seems to still be happy with solo games, stick to that while on your break.

But the very best advice I can give is find a guild, that's what MMOs are for, not solo play.

    Tabletop wargaming!

It's two hobbies in one.  When you're not playing, you're planning, assembling and painting, and when you're playing... well that's fun too.

Your in a tough spot and I feel your pain.  My mmo playing usually rotates between mostly older mmo's.  I don't play any of them for long (a month or two) and the rest of the time is with SP games.  I'm a super casual gamer now and have no desire to be anything but.

I prefer story driven games so those are pretty much the only things I play which narrows my prospects.  You just have to find the type of game play that interests you the most and go with that.  If your finding that nothing really holds your interest then maybe it's time to take a break from gaming.  Nothing says you can't come back at a later date.

I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.

OP are you also finding things other activities outside of gaming also not as fun as they used to be?

If yes - you might be dealing with depression. Nothing to worry about, as it happens to everyone eventually - the main thing about depression is to address it early.

Ignoring depression can have devastating results longterm as it can become clinical depression which is a serious illness. Untreated clinical depression actually causes neural pathways in the brain to "rewire" and once this happens treatment options are not very effective.

Take care of yourself and keep on keeping on!
    Great advice :)

I would like to add a little,
A good all natural bit of advice, be out with people, socialize many people tend to go-down-the-rabbit-hole and isolate.

Video gamming even if online is isolation, friends online DOES NOT CUT IT !

    Real social interaction is key

Bullshit! Some people just don't prefer that, don't give those Psych 101 suggestions, they can do more harm than good.
WoW big words for being wrong yourself... If you don't prefer that and depressed, you will be continually depressed... It's 100% safe to interact with people !

What do you suggest pure drugs, even a doctor in psychology would recommend this treatment... And I do have extreme first hand knowledge in this subject :)

I believe your not depressed, just frustrated with choices like most of us. mmorpg's are in a shallow state for several years now.  Millage my differ from player to player, but they play like a single player off line game but on-line with others around you, and for the most part lack any challenge in any department. Like I say millage my differ, but my opinion is to wait and see what happens in the long term.

I used to be in a similar spot. Played Star Wars Galaxies, moved to Everquest 2, moved to SWTOR, moved to Guild Wars 2.

After that, I couldn't really be bothered anymore. I tried most MMOs out there at some point. The fact of moving between games was probably what made me feel that way. I left 4 great communities behind and was kind of exhausted.

What fixed it for me was the realisation that MMOs aren't what I want at the moment. They are a genre I love, but I felt like trying something else. So I stopped playing MMOs religiously for a few years and it was great. Just coming home from work and playing something at my own pace for fun is a breath of fresh air. MMOs used to be like that at the beginning, but not recently. I played through the three Tomb Raiders, most of the Assassin's Creeds, dabbled with VR, made a Minecraft community. It's given me the fun that I couldn't find in MMOs anymore.

I'm warming up to MMOs again, but I'm taking my time.

It feels more relaxing on a private server because there is no pressure to get value over time, there is no pressure to get stuff done immediately. So you can play for the right reasons,to have fun and just relax and enjoy the stay.
The problem i feel is that so many mmorpg players have already been honed into a certain play style and speed and can' break free.Like one of my biggest peeves is seeing some asshat completely miss the point of gaming and THINK i want to see his SPEED run video, well i don't care one bit about how fast anyone can play any game.
Then we have the other epidemic...CHEATING,like does anyone play games for the simple idea of fun anymore?Selling of accounts, streaming for money "donate here"give me bits, subscribe to all my channels...grrrr what happened to peopel along the way?

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

I know that I am certainly less impressed these days.  Things that would have been awesome are been there done that.  I think 15 year old me would love gaming as it is.

Yep, I sure am. Nothing really holds my attention too much anymore.

I'm looking forward to Anthem for a little bit, and Division 2, but only for the co-op aspect.

This works for me, My bestie's fiancée got me back into 40k again after about 15 years and I'm having a blast building up a bunch of Ork gangsters ( helps that the local hobby/ business supply store had a going out of business sale so I got a bunch of models and ww2 tank kits on the cheap to scavenge parts off of.)

That depends on a rather extreme amount of circumstances. It's...really not a good depression indicator. Unless one is attuned to helping the Xanax peddlers, rather than solving the actual problem.
You don't always need drugs to solve depression.
