I am sure they made a lot of money off BDO,imo a poorly designed game but hey ,it looks good.
They bought CCP by imo not understanding that CGI is going to steal all their players soon enough if not already so a bad move something i would expect CCP to do not Pearl.

I do not see Pearl Abyss making any good games to come. This 425 million purchase price is just dumb,so the only thing i can think of is they see or have seen the paper work showing that CCP was selling ISK on the side of the game as well in game to make a ton of profit.
I look over at SC,this really proves that people will spend boat loads of money on ships, even if there is no game or a crappy game, they simply like to collect ships in a way i guess people collect pets in games.

I still remember the state at which Eve was released, imo a pile of junk as a low budget game from a low budget developer. How and why it became popular is as i stated>>>people wanted their shisp and would spend loads of money to get them.I was in what was called NOOB chat in Eve and what i saw with SEVERAL gm's in the chat was a joke, massive scrolling of ISK selling and not a single ban,so that told me right away that CCP was in on the ISK sales.Allowing the INTEGRITY of your game to be ruined by RMT is a no no and says CCP is more corrupt than a good developer.

I watched a video where a guy THINKS Pearl bought CCP to acquire the ability to have large online battles but what he doesn't realize is that having a large battle in a space environment is also the EASIEST to pull off because there is literally ZERO animation and far fewer objects and no environment no npc's etc etc.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

I have lived in California for 45 years, and the only reason I am here still is because we have 3 successful businesses that can survive the taxes.  Where I am at in Palm springs there is no more middle class, and the rest of California is trending in that direction

Gavin Newsom running the state now is like Jerry Brown on Crack.  Keep that high speed rail from the middle of nowhere dream going!

Taxes are outrageous, we pay close to 60% in taxes right now, and gas is going up, property tax going up, fees for texting is the next thing, and we can't even get a plastic straw

California is a becoming a shithole

I should add it is a nice open minded area which is important for a minority like myself
this is why everyone is hating on california in this thread.

I myself think its great they are using california, an open minded state that isn't full of despicables.
California is only open-minded if you agree with them, think open borders, sanctuary states and socialism is a good thing.

If you disagree you are a racist bigot homo/transphobe

SO they set up shop in the most unfriendly business state in the nation... does not bode well.

Last time I checked California has the 7th largest economy in the world.

Yes it does, but let's trash it anyway. Damn liberals have actually got the state running in the black with a budget surplus. But you know, hate on taxes because.

Yes, California has some of the highest taxes in the country, but considering that some states have badly mismanaged their finances or falsely promised that cutting taxes would increase state income, it's not that hard to achieve "highest".

Childbirth deaths is one of the major measures of how developed a country is.

Last year Texas women suffered one of the highest rates of childbirth deaths in the country.

California has the lowest rate of childbirth deaths in the country.

It is far safer to give birth in California than in Texas.

I suppose it all depends on what you think is important. Maybe Pearl Abyss thinks the well being of their employees was something to consider when totaling up the true costs of one state over another.

Always funny reading people posting links to 'news' articles when trying to defend Ca. While people who live there or USED to live there ( I moved a year ago) all say how bad it is.

I went out there in 2000 was great up until 9/11. Then it slowed down slightly for a couple years. Then got back on track then in 08 it went downhill and never recovered.

Ca is the king of exploiting the bubbles of whatever is going on at the moment thats why their economy always looks so good. But when you dig deeper it doesnt mean much.

How many towns and cities have had people embezzling from them? As the towns and cities all go broke? Used to be 2 or 3 a week it seemed. Whew some city official or another was stealing from the city and had been for years.

As for moving a company there only thing i can think of is theyre in Korea. But not sure why Seattle wouldnt qualify as theyre LA north in terms of social thinking. Not sure what the 'industry' talent is like but many people relocate for 'good' jobs all the time.

Ca has two redeeming qualities. Southern Ca anyway...the weather, and the terrain for riding a bicycle. SO if you dont go out side or own a bike then being there isnt any different than living anywhere else.

It's funny, the confirmation bias in this thread is thick.  You'd think that there was nobody living in CA because nobody could ever possibly afford it unless they were born into money, and yet it's the most populous state in the country.  Guess we're all just homeless people wandering around looking for the next soup kitchen to eat at.
Oh no, my time is up on the library computer....gotta go.  It's also my turn to make dinner for the 6 families that live in my home in order for me to afford it.

Well, do you live in an area that has high real estate prices?

I know several people who live in expensive areas in California and what they get for their dollar is not what others in other parts of the country get.

One friend's cousin jokes when he invites people to his house "this is my 1.2 million dollar house, take it in."

Except it's almost like a small bungalow.

Same here in the Boston area, to buy in my area is expensive. What you get for 500k isn't a lot. But if you aren't making "bank" then you live in this area more for what it has to offer over large yard and a pool (or whatever people buy)

Sure there are areas farther out that are more affordable but I think, at least given the article, they are talking about prime real estate areas.

I should add, this is a 1.2 million dollar house in Cambridge MA:

This is a 1.2 million dollar house in Kansas city MO

That's totally beside the point I was addressing.  I never claimed that homes were not expensive compared to like.....BFE Arkansas; the point is that it's hilarious to listen/watch people talk about CA as though it's impossible to live here, completely ignoring the fact that most of the countries population does exactly that.

By the sounds of it I should expect less traffic in LA soon, which would be great!

Again, I think they are talking about highly desirable areas. Of course, every state has areas with lower cost of living.

So I just tried to find a 1.2 million dollar home in Adams MA to compare to Cambridge MA and there is nothing (that I can find) that even comes close.

I think people are just referring to places in CA where the big boys have their headquarters.

Well, that's how real estate markets work.  Demand sets the price.  If nobody was buying anything in Cambridge the prices would be tumbling downward.

Sure, you could buy a mansion for 500k in east Ohio.....but there's a reason for that.

Apparently for quite some time more people move out of California to other states than move in, with Texas often being where they end up.

This Forbes article notes CA still remains a popular destination for foreigners relocating to the US, which probably explains this move to some degree.

You're in for a real surprise, cuz they love foreigners. Just tell 'em you're from anywhere but Texas and come to the state to take the best high paying tech jobs. You'll get a real yellow rose welcome, *snicker*.
Reminded me of a bumper sticker I saw there on a recent vacation, "I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as soon as I could."

Austin was actually a pretty good city, same for San Antonio,  Houston was a bit too large and sprawling as well as ground zero on the hurricane tracking maps.

People can spin all the stats they want. California is great if you have A LOT of money or ZERO money. If you work for a living then its not good. Unless youre business is taking advantage of one of the aforementioned groups.

As for the economy, a lot of it now is 'fake'. Stuff that has left the state they keep on the books for x amount of time. So over time all those defunct 'assets' stay on the record even though theyre long gone, and there is a lot of overlap.

But yeah there are a lot of people, too many. CA has more 'illegals' in it than most every other state other than Texas and Florida has total population. But its a cottage industry. Back in the early 2000s guys hanging out at Home Depot used to hide or lower their heads when authorities drove by, now those authorities bring them coffee and donuts, but due to all the 'aid' they get no one even goes to Home Depot anymore to try and find work because they dont have to.

But people leaving Ca are continuing to get further away. First it was Arizona they all went to, then Nevada (most Las Vegas until it collapsed) then it was Colorado and Texas. Idaho is getting a few more now too. Its not hard to tell where theyre going as the states they infest start switching to the politics these guys claimed they were trying to get away from.

As for real estate prices it isnt as much demand as 'necessity'. After the housing crash rents skyrocketed (for normal people) because realtors double dipped. They got to foreclose on houses then start charging people more in rent than their house payments were they couldnt afford and lost their houses in the first place. 09-11 was when all those people left the state. So you had all those people who at one time owned homes all leaving. And lets just say they werent replaced by people who COULD afford the houses they lost. Not all of them thats for sure.

    wow Childbirth rate

how about 49th in schools, 48th in infrastructure, despite highest gas costs in the state, and the most money spent on schools

[mod edit]  San Francisco is becoming one of the worst cities in the nation and its all because of Gavin Newscum, now he will finish off the state.  He wants to raise  state income tax from 13.4 to 21.2, we have a relatively high sales tax as well.  Meanwhile Texas actually operates at a surplus, while having ZERO state income tax, while California operates on the pay more and more so it looks like we have money in the state, meanwhile middle class is running
