It’s been a little longer than a fortnight since I last wrote about my journey through Legends of Aria. In that time, I’ve become a competent and well-armed rogue, no longer the lame sitting duck for beasts and thieves who first ventured outside Pyros Landing.

    The game is pretty and promising. Yet its a pile of incomplete features and unbalanced messes. And steam release might cause major uprising if they introduce new servers.

    Agreed with the above.  It's going to flop massively unless they give it minimum another year to develop.

    I enjoy the game very much so far. Playing it calm and slow since its early access after all. But this game will be a good and worthy successor to Ultima Online. It just need a bit more polish an content which I'm sure will come.

    Do not get suckered into wasting cash on this dumpster fire.

    Great piece of writing here, but that's where the greatness ends.

    The game is an empty unpolished hot mess.

    When it launches on steam expect a 99.9% refund in the first 2 hours by purchasers.

    The ones who do stay will say people dont play because WOW made everyone need handholding and they aren't hardcore enough to enjoy a game like Aria.

    But in reality no one in the year 2019 should be paying hard earned cash for something that in 2004 would have been DOA.

    Again great write up man.

    But as players don't get suckered in.

    I wouldn't say that you need to be hardcore enough to play this game, what you do need is to enjoy the style of game this is. It isn't a fast paced action game, it isn't something that has !!! quest givers all over the world. This game isn't about getting the best gear ( atm ).

    This game is a slower paced game, where you have to literally spend time investing into a character that gets better the longer you play them. As you use your skills your skills increase and so does your power.

    For me this game is a great change of pace compared to WoW/FF14 etc because sometimes its nice to watch a netflix show and mine/chop wood/craft. Its nice to build up a house, set up some vendors and have a shopping mall for other players.

    Sure there is a lot to be desired in the form of content, but this is an early access game... remember that. Right now they have been working to squash bugs and get things stable before adding new content which IMO is the better route.

    This game has potential if you enjoy the style of game, but to say don't waste your money on this is a little out there considering there is a large fan base who is looking for a game similar to UO.

    This game is poorly optimized, buggy, newbie mobs are over farmed even by the higher level players, and character customization is limited, dated & terrible.

    Game has a decent base idea, but in it's current form it is a steaming hot mess. Animal Taming is horribly broken, hundreds of bugs/glitches, some minor and others less so. There are bots happening for almost every activity in the game (Taming,Mining,Logging and even general skill ups). There are dupes galore and ways to exploit trading with other players. Due to the repetitive nature of raising skills, most people I have seen in the game look to be using a 3rd party program to AFK level (It's even mentioned by name on the games official forums, by various posters).

    Due to the small size of the dev team they seem unable to devote enough time to address the botting, duping and exploiting at this time. They have stated that in the future they will have a more robust anti-cheat program.

    I played for the first few weeks, got my nostalgia fix, got tired of the (mostly) toxic player base and will check it out again or maybe restart fresh on the new server(s) when it launches on Steam.

    These are all the reasons i'll prob skip this game - it's a shame as I would have loved a UO game.

    Amazing game, most ppl in here are snowflakes and casual, MMORPG in generel which i have visited since the beginning of the era in noticed one Thing, most people love to complain and the very same People that lack the skills tonen of any merit in the games, just solo players and wanderers. Low ingame awareness, No micro macro management, No skill in the art of gamin. When thats Said, LoA is the successor of UO, have a little more carebear features But feels lile UO early stage Low on content and constant bug fix. I Know the LoA developers are sitting on a lot of content and Will just have to wait til they feel like the game is ready for that. This game is hands Down the Best Real mmmorpg atm. Full loot, pvp, (weak pve, more is getting released) housing, play as a crafter only and then all the politics and schemes and Alliances that takes place makes the World so much more immersive than flashy graphics with simpleton npcs

    Regarding skill points, my tip would be to make an alt on which you will skill up non-combat skills and skill up combat related skills on your main. There is no point in having e.g. carpentry on your main which will just eat up part of your skill point limit.

    It would be nice if they split progression into combat and crafting. I think the worst types of crafting systems are the ones that allow everyone to master all crafts with no limitations, but ones like this would serve the players better by not making them decide between alt or gimp.

    Dunno I kind of like it.  I have my main and then an alt that specializes in mage stuff.  My buddies have carpentry, Blacksmithing, etc...
    It gives us all something to contribute.

    The game isn't a bad value for the price. There's long/grindy progression, open world, PVE + PVP, crafting, trading, alts, housing and it has greatly improved in the past year.
    Even with its dated graphics, for the buy to play price of $30 it's not really a bad deal for what you get which is hundreds - thousands of hours of gameplay if you can get into that retro groove.

    But it could be exactly like that, except you don't log out and log into a crafting-alt.
