I've got to say that I found the ESO community to be absolutely toxic. I don't think I've ever blocked so many people in a game before. Worse than any experience I've ever had in WoW. (No, I'm not playing WoW right now.. or ESO).

Not that I really care either way. I just chuckle and get on with my own business when someone is being ridiculous. Let people do what they want to do, you don't have to get involved and you gain nothing from doing so anyway.

Same here . It was so bad in ESO that I ended up turning off all my chat options and playing through the game without talking to anyone but friends who were also playing that I knew from another game .

@DarkSwarm I wasn't going to reply to you but I can't tolerate lying on my name. Stop fishing for likes bro.  I wasn't being "obnoxious" to anyone in this thread not even once. I had people attacking my intelligence because I made an observation. That's all it was. Not only that, I even said that I'm willing to help any players who are new and lost. I'm being helpful. I gave advice to others who asked me. Far from what you claim:

"I also find it ironic how the OP is being absolutely obnoxious on the forums to other players, but claims they're the ones doing it in ESO!!! LMMFAO."

    What are you talking about.

I've read everyone's opinion just like people read mine. Some people thought that was a chance to insult me personally which again I will always respond  accordingly.

Yeah, can you WoW players please stop bringing your WoW forum behaviors to MMORPG.com? We run a tight and friendly ship over here. I mean you're welcome to join this unique gathering of folks who never ever played WoW, but c'mon.

If any of you need help learning how to use the WYSIWYG editor to post better feel free to message me. My forum name is @FlyByKnight

Just to reiterate because I see people trying to push this narrative of what they think I meant.

    I never said:

    WoW players dont play ESO
WoW players cant play ESO unless they check in with me first
Other MMOs don't have toxic people playing them

    I did say:

I saw a hour long fight between people who had recently come over from WoW (yes they both admitted this during the heated debate mainly about WoW guild drama) that's why I said "It isnt trade chat" because it isnt. Usually dont see that type of thing and back in the day when I played, that was normal in WoW.

I have never seen a fight last that long in ESO ever and I've been here since closed beta. That was my own personal observation. I never said people don't fight EVER in ESO. I did say ESO is a lot more tame and this again is true for me. It may be the fact that WoW has a lot more players than the ESO PC client so more chances to see it. I already stated this.

I'm available to help any new people, (WoW players included) who may be seeking advice. I'm a vet player that's what we do in ESO, I don't know what the Vets do in WoW currently. I do remember being a new player in WoW (TBC era) and asking for help in chat and people being extra elitist and calling me a newb for asking a simple question. Again for the ones in the back: THAT'S MY EXPERIENCE.

People tend to be more mature in ESO than in WoW. This is true to my experience. Again MY experience. I really haven't played WoW since 2011 so my experience is based off that. I left WoW for SWTOR and although I still sub to SWTOR my main MMO for the past few years has been ESO.

At this point I feel like people know what I meant but I still need to explain it to control my narrative here. Stop trying to turn what I said into some attack on WoW its not, Its just an observation.

This thread is so fucking stupid, not that it surprises me. At the end of the day OP, people are people. People are not "wow players", they're not "ESO players", they're people. Every game is filled with people.

WoW is the mmorpg that has the most players. When you gather more people, that means more personalities and more troublemakers and more drama. You can see this in effect irl versus a household, a village, a city, a country. Take a group of 2 people, 25 people, and 100 people. Which group do you think is most likely to have the most drama and which would have the least? The more people, the more likely drama starts. This is something that shouldn't need to be explained to you.

But in your blind dislike of WoW you forgot such a simple fact and even further tried to segregate "WoW players" from just being regular people. "WoW players" play other games too. But in your mind they're forever a "WoW player" dirtying ESO.

Okay let me help you since you want to be mr semantics. I'm talking about displaced wow players, WoW Refugees. I cant believe i actually had to say that. I'm not talking about all people who have EVER played WoW. I'm talking about the millions of people currently walking away from WoW right now to play other games. The people who only played WoW as their choice MMO. A lot of those people ended their WoW subs and are going to other games. A lot of those people have never played ESO. I was making an observation about ESO. In my observation it was necessary to explain who I'm talking about. Cant just say "New People" when I saw people fighting over WoW for an hour. WoW players is very accurate and its funny but weird that you tried to turn it into a insult.  You want "WoW players" ( i'm using it as a descriptor) to be a insult so bad. Weird!

There are a lot of people walking away from WoW. I don't have the numbers exact to the cent, because nobody has the true numbers. Just go to yt and type in "Quit WoW" there are thousands of yt videos with thousands of comments of people all saying the same thing. A lot are recent videos last 4-12 months. Check the WoW forums. Google "I quit wow". Lot's of people are quitting and more than normal. Its not xpac fatigue its WoW fatigue.

So while I don't have the exact number I am confident in saying its hundreds of thousands to millions of people leaving. I knew somebody was going to say "Source" when I said Millions. There is no official source and you know there isn't. Blizzard stopped sharing that info a long time ago and we know why. Its been on a decline. You don't need them to report it, you can see it for yourself from what I hear. But again you know all this. You said that to try to discredit what I'm saying but its won't work because WoW is actually for real having a mass exodus unlike any it has had before. A lot of people. Is that better for you?

He is desperate for ESO to be more than Average to Better than Average of a game.  So they way to make it better is to attack another game.  To attack another game you need someone to be the "defender" of that game to take the attack.

I'm not losing any sleep over this trust me. Ever since I brought up Destiny being a type of MMO and others like fitting the bill... Its always the same people who attack everything I say on this site, you being one of them. I've also notice this same pattern with others who also said Destiny is a MMO. Interesting because I don't do that to anyone. Weird!

I am targeted by a specific group of people over my opinions but as I always say Its okay, because I know how to respond and shut you up. I can deal with it. I didn't write this to change anything for anyone.  I was just making a observation. You don't have to agree. I don't need you to agree. I don't care if you agree. Especially you. But I do need you to stop attacking my character thanks in advanced.

I don't need or want any ego stroking from anyone on this site, I get enough in my real life everyday, but thanks for stopping by my ted talk.

You're missing some context then as to why almost every other MMO is the way it is. It's one thing to read about how influential it has been but quite another to experience it first hand and then play other MMOs and notice the many similarities.
    I'm fine with that.

Another person taking something out of context to edit my narrative. Ok, I have time today.

You came in the thread saying its quote "fucking stupid" and then said I personally have a "blind dislike of WoW" weird take! strange!

I never said I disliked WoW or even gave my own personal opinion of the game itself. You said Im trying to segregate wow players from being regular people as if I somehow said they aren't regular people. You had a issue with me using "WoW Players" as if its not a actual thing.

    Right.

Sounds exactly like a defender to me.

There are Fortnite players, Destiny players, division players, anthem players.. what do you want me to call them? How do I make clear who I'm talking about when I'm talking about a specific set of games? You are outraged because I used "WoW Players".. I'm segregating people now?

define desperate? this is a weird take!

ESO is amazing to me, I'm not desperate for it to be average..Why would I want it to downgrade? I'm not sure that making an observation about something I specifically noticed is an attack on another game. I never said WoW was a bad game. I observed behavior that was directly influenced by and about people who recently came over from wow. I even added to it that I'm around to help any people who want help and don't be afraid to ask people because vets in WoW a lot of times tend to be elitist, its usually not so in ESO. Not that it never happens. I also said that's my experience. I also said it may be because wow has more people playing it.

I also think I've said that 100 times.  I know this is my Ted Talk but please pay attention so i don't need to repeat myself. constantly.

after reading this thread , it is funny as hell to me that someone would waste so much time and energy on walls of useless text thinking that you can change in the smallest way the community of an in game chat  ..

You have zero chance , a matter a fact if this did anything at all it would be the opposite ..

But i also think this thread is more about someone massaging themselves more than anything else ..

I don't need or want any ego stroking from anyone on this site, I get enough in my real life everyday, but thanks for stopping by my ted talk.
lol .. if by boring people to Death is shutting them up , you certainly achieve ...

And my goodness , such  a squishy victim , but now the desperate need for self gratification makes sense

Why do folks behave like "their game" ( :/ ) has some exclusive community? It's the same people guys. Just different names FFS.

"WoW players are welcome" really?  :D

If an MMORPG does not have at least 2 blowout conversations about WoW, Alienware computers, or "You know why they call Xbox 360, 360 right?" your the chat serer is down.

I don't know what transformation ESO had since the first year, but I recall all that in ESO.
Yes. WoW Players are welcome. You have a problem with that? That's a personal problem if so. There is nothing wrong with saying WoW Players are welcome. They are. Welcome. I'm really confused about why you want to take something nice and turn it into something else.

There are a bunch of people who never played anything but WoW and are coming over to ESO.

smh, man some people here have a real issue with trying to always invalidate something. foh. What I said was valid and based on my observation. If you don't like it then tough shit, idk what to tell you. You are free to disagree but it doesn't change anything for me.

Like I said.  I'm only talking about the toxic type of behavior that is super normalized in WoW it was never at this level in ESO and maybe its as simple as there are more people now so more chances to to see it. I'm confused why people are trying to act like its not possible or its wrong to point it out. Its my observation. Why do yall get so butthurt when people make observations. You aren't going to change my mind bro. I saw what I saw, and I expressed myself.

EDIT: and NO, its not all the same people. As I said, there are people who are WoW lifetime players that have never played ESO. How long have you been playing MMOs? You really want to pretend like you don't know that certain games have dedicated "Exclusive" communities? There are people who played WoW exclusively that are now playing ESO. So yes, these games have Exclusive communities.
The issue is a bunch of people who play a game, behaving like people who played another game are guests in THEIR game. The other thing is this revisionist take on the ESO community. Everything you're claiming issue with is stuff that was there from launch day just like any other MMORPG. I can't speak on what the environment is like now but yeah... You were in a bar during off-season and are now salty because people who go to bars started showing up and doing what bar patrons normally do.

Saying "WoW players are welcome" in the context you did, is like standing in a national park saying "Sneaker wearers have our blessing to be here".

Lastly, just because a person plays a game exclusively doesn't mean that game is exclusive to them.
Agree.  ESO is new on the block.  WoW peaked at over 10M users.

Where do you think any of these games are getting their players.

There is no such thing as WoW players.  The OP probably played WoW himself, so he fits the description.

Almost everyone in the MMORPG market was a WoW player at some time or another.  And I bet almost all of us have done our fair share of trolling (even if we won't admit it :-P ).  It's the internet.  Anonymity gives us a lot of power to do the types of things we wouldn't do in real life.

I also find it ironic how the OP is being absolutely obnoxious on the forums to other players, but claims they're the ones doing it in ESO!!! LMMFAO.
Never played WoW.. and given what I have read over the years.. kinda glad I skipped that boat.
The first year of Vanilla was actually a really good time for me. The player base on the server I played on were great. Can’t speak for the others. IMHO it was the player induced elitism that turned the community toxic. The behind the back Shit talk that developed in my guild caused by the desire for server firsts can atest to that.

ESO has always been full of trolls, since the very beginning - launch.  It has always been this way.  General Chat is a toxic hell stew of political debates, insults, vulgarities, genital jokes, and people completely flaming anyone who has an issue with anything about the game.

ESO players are the last people to come here and complain about WoW players degrading their "community," as if such a thing ever existed in that game.

    This is baiting.
I am sorry you feel that way because it wasn't meant to me. Just my honest thoughts on the matter.

Edit: Deleted it from my original post as a sign of good faith.
lol seriously? "after his second term". I hope you aren't one of those types of trolls, but that's exactly the kind of stuff they will post. In case you really aren't in the know, read some news, and I don't mean fox or breitbart.
