Anthem's Lead Producer Mike Gamble has announced that the team has added a new feature to the game called "Launch Bay". In effect, Launch Bay is a multiplayer hub for up to sixteen players. "Hang out with your friends, use the forge, reload and grab a new contract." Gamble wrote. He further stated that this feature was added based on community feedback.

I dont know why- But I really am not looking forward to this game. I feel like its going to be another cash grab over promise under deliver type of a game.

a social hub for only 16 players? i think even Destiny managed to handle more than that! this does not bode well for the game if even the opportunity to meet other players is limited to such a degree. :o

I'm not a fan of EA and I will tell everyone to be cautious when it comes to buying Anthem or any game from EA for that matter. However, I can neither confirm nor deny that I've played it before; but all I can say is play the demo that is coming out (Jan 25th for Origin Access members and February 1st for everyone else.) to make a judgement on how well crafted the game feels in terms of game play.

As for cash grab, from what they have detailed about their plans for monetization; it seems fair. Its all cosmetics, you choose what you want to buy, no RNG crap like loot boxes, packs, etc and if you don't want to buy anything, you can earn all of it through game play. However, this is EA and things can change months down the road but if things remain as they described, I feel like this may be a worth while pick up.

For anyone who's anti-EA, I will offer this advice. Companies won't listen when you don't buy their games cause someone will always buy them. They don't care about those who boycott them. Instead, I've taken the stance where if a company offers something I like, be it Ubisoft, EA, Activision, etc; I'll buy it. They listen to money. If you like something they make, like what practices they put into place, buy it. It shows them that is what you as a gamer wants. The more profit they make on a strategy, the more they'll continue using said strategy. At the end of the day, these are companies. They don't care about the game themselves, they only care about the machine that generates the money. Want better games and monetization? Then support them.

But no matter what, do not, and I mean DO NOT pre-order a game. You're just asking to be let down at that point.

GW1 had a similar social hub, only more players could use it, which helped players meet others and form adventuring parties. That was a Coop RPG, not an MMO, yet it is superior to Anthem in that regard. I think they are going to regret not focusing the game on storyline more. :/

wasn't Tarsis supposed to be that hub where all players would meet?

EDIT: Fort Tarsis. Btw Tarsis is a city in Krynn, (Dragonlance Saga).

Monster Hunter: World also has player hubs - and they are absolutely empty outside of Kulve events. I hope in this case they'll actually work.

Maybe people need to stop thinking that Anthem is a MMO and realize it's designed as a co-op game, described by the devs as a co-op game and marketed as a co-op game from the start. This hub is Bioware trying to please some vocal people on Reddit/twitter who think the game is a MMO and were pissed it didn't have a player hub. A pointless player hub nobody is going to use because there is no point in seeing other players if you can't interact with them outside doing emotes.

meh its looking more like MHW system, grab a quest go in kill/complete it, return, or go to the world and explore for items, even teh 16 peeps hub is in teh MHW.

I know bioware is lacking a lot of creativity, but they are pushing it

This could very well be their last chance, i think the biggest problem they are going to be facing is that it isn't pushing anything, nothing new, if anything they are playing it a bit safe, but the lack of player communication in game, even if its only multiplayer is going to hurt, that was also the problem with Destiny 1, no in game communication other than a couple of emotes, i only tried Destiny 2 briefly but i didn't notice any in game communication options there either and that was the PC version. What is the point of even having a social hub to hang out in if you can't communicate, i half expect it will just be a place where players can watch each other open up loot boxes. :p

I saw this and thought "That's cool they actually want to do something the community wants in game." I see the comments here and at other places and wonder why people think talking negative on something is useful.

Look I get it big company/publisher always have their sights set on profit but stop calling a game a cash grab. Games are made to turn some kind of profit at the end of the day or the smaller studios are trying to get the publishers to notice them so they can get funding to make a bigger game.

How about this, have a better plan. What I mean is have something more to say other than "Beware EA," "Bioware sucks," etc. How bout how the industry can get better? Be realistic with yourself and understand there is no such thing as the "perfect game".

I hope I'm am wrong, I wonder how long after all the website, youtubers, and streamer try to sell this game to people then end up something close to star wars monetization. Even Bioware said that the demo won't be the same. Got to wait and see how many people get burn or not.

Are you suggesting people should actually provide solutions to these problems rather than bitch and complain about them constantly?  Don't be absurd.

You suggesting "loot boxes"? The developers have said there will be no loot boxes. That is the only thing from Battlefront that drew the most outrage. The economy in the demo is set up to make it easier and cheaper to get things in the demo to see how it works, but who knows how much some cosmetics will cost in the final game.

Also as far as the youtube streamers they aren't out to sell the game but are just on the hot thing to get subs and get people to give them more for their channel. I have yet to see (not that I look for them) any of them say "go buy the game". They are just doing what streamers do for everything new or on the horizon simply spam content to get their numbers up.

This sounds a lot like MHW where after a mission you can go back to the city and be alone, or return to the gathering hub with your buddies.

Does Anthem really have an identity? they seem to be taking every part of the game from other games. Reminds me of Destiny 2 taking pretty much everything from Warframe.

If the game actually turns out to be excellent will those complaining about every little thing come and admit they were wrong or will they just go back to stewing in their own urine until the next opportunity?

Of course they are a business and they are a publicly traded company at that. They have to constantly figure out ways to make more money.

They have stumbled a bit and did remove loot Boxes from Shadow of Mordor. Bioware knows this has to be a good game.

I'm certain there is a sports analogy that would work, something like seconds on the clock and on the one yard line or something like that.

    That's where they are.

Let's see what they have given where they are.
