This game is too hard to get into, I don't know what to do.
Let me get this straight: you are able to figure out how to login to an online game and how to login to and post on online gaming forums, yet you are unable to lookup and watch a guide on how to play the game?
YT has various beginner's guides for the game. Utilize the resources you have available.
The game being hard (which it really isn't, at all) is not the problem here.
I chose to play Atlas because i watched streamers for a few days and liked what i saw.
I laugh when people THINK this cannot be compared to Eve,this is like 100x better than Eve,way more to do and enjoy.
I couldn't even explain everything that is going on in less than about 20 paragraphs.I am not going to defend bad business moves or a lot of the bad press on this game ,however the game itself is just fun.
Do you like sailing on the open seas ,well it feels realistic.
Do you like challenging creatures, well this game has the whole eco system, from bunnies to Gorgons to Elementals to Hydra's,wolves, lions Giraffe's lol,it's there.
Thing is you do not need a single minute of pvp to enjoy this game.Geesh i am sure lot's of people out there like building stuff, sure the tools could use some vertice additions, maybe an actual architect tool but as is the tools are quite easy to use and can do a lot.
The islands all vary as expected, you might have a more relaxed island with a little bit of danger like a lion or wolf all the way up to islands you are lucky to survive a few minutes.Let your guard down for 2 seconds and you might be dead.Eve cannot offer ANY of what this game offers outside of pvp and even then it is pvp in open space,so how good can it be.In Atlas you can build traps/enclosures to thwart off the enemy, you can use strategy/cover,this is not simply stand out in the open and pew pew.
Bottom line,if you feel the developer "Wildcard" slighted you, pissed you off,i can understand not supporting it but if all you want is a game to unlock a lot of stuff, have some fun both building/sailing and discovering with a load of danger, then this game is pretty good.I have logged in everyday since i bought it,play for several hours each day, having fun still.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
OH btw....$30 not 80 like SOT charged with 1/10th the game,no cash shop/p2w.I feel 30 is more than fair, not many games out there selling for 30 that are not gated or have little to do and open ended.Like Anthem is abotu to release soon,VERY linear and will likely sell bewtween 50-80 and will offer likely one week of gaming.

What an utter shambles - POS game shouldnt even be mentioned in the same sentence as EvE and I don't even like or play it.
The East Vs West aspect though is quite compelling.
Problem with the wonkey chongs and survivals is, the wank stains like to attack non wonkey chong bases while no one around to defend(night capping shit stains on society), region lock all wonkey chongs into theyre own wonky chong server an job done!!!
no idea why you could not compare this to eve...the whole alliance stuff is very, very similar just the fights are smaller in numbers now there would be the point that eve has a super basic combat system in comparison to atlas but well played eve for 10 years but it's just no longer up to date for me.
atlas surely is still quite rocky at times but i am having a blast and hope it evolves nicely. i just don't understand all the hate around this game. i personally love the new approach of survival meets mmo as these survival games with their small server numbers never got me hooked as an mmo player but this one surely did as the servers are at least connected. this makes the world feel big with tons of ppl :P
in comparison to a lot of mmo launches this one still wasn't the worst by far to be honest also ^^
I was just thinking how fun a game like this could be. Seems like greed just ruins everything these days. I get wanting to win, but at the cost of ruining an otherwise fun game by cheating? Some people just want to see the world burn, I suppose. I’ll keep my distance.
On a side note, anyone who can speak both chinese and english could have a field day as a spy in such circumstances.
Vault-Tec analysts have concluded that the odds of worldwide nuclear armaggeddon this decade are 17,143,762... to 1.
I stopped playing, the cheating is rampant and the developers seem to have no issue with it. The combat is probably one of the worst ever designed. How anyone could like this game is beyond me.

Well perhaps some folks enjoy easily hackable games?

Its fun but frustrating at the same time.It does feel like the developer is not there or listening. The problem is i have no clue who is running this show, making the decisions,it seems like a very shotty run operation.
So my guess is that Wildcard had some great ideas, designed Ark or the beginning of a great idea, then got bought out by Snail. So doing what big corporations do ,cut costs and ramp up ways to generate cash.
So imo they whipped out Ark,then, stopped working on it for the most part and began with Dark N light.Sold that gimmick and then moved on to Atlas to sell the same game/idea 3x.
So here we are a great game/idea but feels like they are slowly moving onto likely a 4th rendition of Ark and will try and pan that off on us as being a new game.
If not the only other effort i expect incoming is to form some sort of cash shop to generate cash, basically everything except making sure issues are fixed and/or changed.
Right now there is a glaring issue of players getting stuck if they touch another players boat/raft,after that happens the anger/frustration begins. The game really is cool though, sort of the exact idea i wanted for a game when i mentioned years ago a Jason and the Argonauts type game would be cool.So moving forward,is Wildcard going to put much effort into Atlas or is Snail forcing them to do otherwise, who knows, only large media sites can find the answers but their too busy kissing ass with developers.

Cheating? I don't see it,have not seen it yet. Then again i spent very little time on official servers, private servers are every bit as good and if find the right one can be 100x better.
If there was cheating,i know quite a bit about cheating and the Unreal engine,so i am pretty sure i would know if it was there. Not saying there isn't the possibility because there is but i just don't see it at all and i have played on about 40 private servers looking for the right one.
Now what can happen is a lot of players come from Ark,the game uses 99% the exact same setup,so if there are any exploits and there are several, those players know about them already.
Imo not cool when you have a large player base that has a massive heads up on the game mechanics ,especially in a land claim pvp game.So my advice, play on private servers, lots of PVE there and DO NOT touch another players boat, galleon,Brig, raft lol just don't.

There have been plenty of cheating on the official servers, just go to youtube, there is even a streamer getting bombed by what looks like ww2 planes exploding on his ship. to say there is no cheating just because you have not seen it, is rather unwise. though in all honesty, i would love to try the game myself, but, the vids of rampant cheating discouraged me from buying.
