Many games were hype to be minecraft killers. 

Hytale having had a long and close connection with the MC community does have a good bet on a strong modding and a strong MP aspect of it so if that is done right with the whole MC of it, then it works.

The timing is good because their announcement hits on a time MC itself shows some decay with less investment on content creation and all, so the chance to become mainstream is more real than any other before.

Well, sometimes when I sink my teeth into a game I want Prime Rib medium, and other times I want Cotton Candy Ice Cream.

I think this is one of those Cotton Candy Ice Cream times. 

Hopefully, just a nice fun game to chill and vibe along to.
