What am I buying into?

some-clueless-guysome-clueless-guy Member UncommonPosts: 227
I've been checking on this game's progress for a while now, waiting for an official release to give it a try but since they are currently offering it on a discount I figured I would grab it while it's hot and eventually wait for it to be polished. However...

I'm trying to gather some knowledge about how the game will work but everything seems so nebulous: the steam page, their main page, their reddit, all I can find are vague teasing sentences.

How are they planning to monetize it, is it still B2P as it was planned a couple years ago?

What is the server(s) location, can someone provide an address so I can ping it?

Will private servers have complete freedom or is their existence tied to that of the base server?

Yeah i noted the discount and gave it a thought too.
Wondered at a 30% reduction so close to the steam release.
I'd also appreciated an update on current game position.

what you are buying into? lies mostly

you guys should have learned by now, all b2p on launch (who later become early access) will become f2p, better wait and pay nothing, or you really belive a game like this will not be doing so?
FOR HONOR, FOR FREEDOM.... and for some money.

Not sure if this relates.  Also every game developer has their own rules anyway.

    7 days to die,
Is a solo game, but also has private servers to play with friends just the same.  I purchased it in early access like 5 years ago for about $30, it was in ruff shape.... About 6 months ago RL Friends decided to play.  I downloaded it logged on to my friends server and bam !... I was playing.

Point being, no rules or disclaimers attached.  This seemed to mean play forever... Maybe LoA is the same ?..... But then, maybe not !

You are buying into a game that is not a game yet.

This morning I was getting slightly hyped for this game. Watched several reviews and game play.  This style of PvP open sandbox is not my style, but trying to reason in my mind of playing anyway and see what happened.

Then the idea of FULL LOOT entered my mind and F#^& That !!!
I don't like being pissed off that way :(

You are buying into a game 3 years away from release. And as someone who has been with them since early Shards it pains me to say that it will probably never be ready. They simply don’t have the manpower or funding to take it all the way.

'the only way he could nail it any better is if he used a cross.'

    Kyleran on yours sincerely

'But there are many. You can play them entirely solo, and even offline. Also, you are wrong by default.'

Ikcin in response to yours sincerely debating whether or not single-player offline MMOs exist...

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.

It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.

It is just huge resource waste....'

I've been playing on the Legends of Ultima community server of Legends of Aria, and I love it. Been on it for months, and the devs are awesome and doing a great job. I didn't care for the official game all that much. But LoU is quite different in a lot of ways.

This actually sounds good for the OP and somewhat answers his payment system question.

$29.99 on sale for $19.99 will be the price tag for at least three years.  From watching Youtubes, the game seems ready enough for what it is... But Full loot is not my style.

Don't forget games like Sub Nautica and 7 days to die were easily playable well before release.

Ultima Online, "unrelated to game play" suffers from the same UI polish as EverQuest 1 and Project 1999.

Old outdated screen resolutions, user controls, drop down menus.... I'm sure their good games, but please !!!!!....Fix this !

It would appear extremely broken to the unaware.

Do you log in there through the official site? If the game flops and is shut down will there be a way to keep playing LOU?
