I'm buying a new video card and thinking of getting a 6800GT, anyone have any recomendations on exactly which one to get? There seem to be a bunch of different kind.

I probably should have posted this before, but for those interested here is the system I'm buying from newegg. As you can see there is a card listed on there already but it's out of stock and I was having trouble finding it at any other retailers. I looked at CNET but they don't really seem to distinguish brands or something, I was having trouble understanding their website. Anyway, that's why this whole quesiton came up.
EDIT 2
....Hmmm well it WAS out of stock yesterday, lol, guess they got some more in. Ok so what do you guys think of that one, the XFX it's spendy compared to the others.

I'm not too familiar with the 6800 GT series of Nvidia.
But try searching for benchmarks on the card, and compare it with other brands. It's also a good idea to check reviews about the card you plan on purchasing such as in www.newegg.com.
I got this card about a year ago. Really solid performance if you can afford it. It runs a bit hot I think, so have good ventilation. As well, I would suggest at least having a 300 Watt power supply with this baby. It can't run EQ II well... I don't think any card can... stupid engine. In any case, you might want to save your dollars and buy one of the new 7000 series from Nvidia. They don't have a GT version yet, and the GTX = the Ultra. And that puppy run you probally about 550 bucks, but well worth it if you don't want to upgrade for a while. Plus, if you have SLI... well, I don't really need to say anymore if you were to hook up two of the 7800 GTX in SLI. Good luck in any case :P
I wouldn't get the 7800
I wouldn't waste my money on it! The x850 PE is pretty much on par with it on all games and atm it has no performace increase thats matters :P
Personally i'd buy a lower priced card and wait it out because better cards will be on the market soon enough

Don't click here...no2
I have the 6800GT and its good stuff. Can run pretty much all games out today (not EQ2 lets not get silly), I highly recomend it.
Can run BF2 top rez on all no problems, same with pretty much anything else out there like doom 3 etc. Good card.
The BFG brand is supposed to be excellent for the 6800's, for both overclockers and stock users.
Key thing to check when buying is the GPU speed and the Ram speed on the card, some can throw in some really lowsy ram that really degredates the card.

What they mean by not running EQII is on the highest (higher) settings. I have an X700 with 2 gigs of ram and i can run EQII on balanced, to the one up above balanced just fine without lag. I think I read one guy is running EQII with the dual nvidia SI 7800 cards they just came out with, with 4 gigs of RAM and can run it almost smoothly with the second to highest performance setting.
I personally would go with an X700 or 6600 and buy some more RAM and play the waiting game with everyone else. Just my two cents
Excellent card for the money, It honestly is quickly turning out to be the ti-4600 of its generation, excellent performance, excellent price and very nice overclockability.
Right now for the money it trashes any ATI card for performance and Image quality, Do not get me wrong I am not an nvidia fanboy as previous to the 6800gt I would have recommended the 9800pro.
Buy the BFG if you can still find it, its the best value as it maintains a lifetime warranty and is overclocked by default. Second choice would be PNY a lifetime warranty as well, for the cost difference I honestly would not consider any other brand since the loss of warranty just is not worth it. Also as a FYI the 6800 gt can be clocked to Ultra settings and give the same performance without the added hassle of the dual slot cooler the Ultra has.
Last note, Do not have less then a 400w PSU, 300 or even 350 Is simply not going to cut it anymore.
I have the same video card together with a fully new system. 2GB DDR400 RAM and I have to say most games I play just rock my previous card TI-4600 and 1GB DDR2xx out of the sky.

If you would like to get some seriously definitive answers I would reccomend going to www.maximumpc.com and going to there forums. They have a really active community and are very knowledgeable. They even have a forum section just for video card questions.

Hope that helps
I have a PNY 6800 GT and bought it more or less when they launched. It's a pretty darn good card. I also managed to over clock it to such an extent that I was receiving bench scores just below those who are running 64bit systems.
The card was not kept at those speeds. I don't want to burn it up. It just goes to show you that these GTs have quite a bit of oomph to them.
It's now ran at stock speeds but I seriously don't see where I need any more than that. I run games in 1152x864 with AF set to 16x and I set AA from within the games' options, with all graphical options enabled in the game. I have yet to run a title - aside from EQ2 - that isn't playable at these settings.

I don't think people know, but EQ2 is a "next gen" game like you see at E3. It supossidley uses the same water generation that the titanic used, but no one supports it yet...
I too have the GT, I like it a lot, but doesn't seem to different from the 6800 that i used before. oh well, whatever.
Thanks for the replies so far everyone, they've been very helpful.
