Need help adjusting options

OK i just got total experience and started playing today. When i got in after all the updates and everything i found it extremely laggy, even in the tutorial. Now i had the same issue with Eq2 but i was told how i could adjust the options to bring down the graphics(not good graphics card) and improve the performance. Is there anyway i could do this by adjusting anything in options. I have tried adjusting the resolution but i dont really know how to make it better. I really dont care how much i have to bring down the graphics. I would just like to play with not the crazy lag. Thanks

Seems odd that the tutorial would be "laggy" for you.  However, I would try turning off the shadows, and bringing down viewing distance.  I've noticed that turning off the distance flora and radial flora bumps the FPS up a bit also.

    Biggest difference on fps:

    a) Change "World Detail" and "Viewing Distance" .... up to + 10 fps

    b) Shadows --> simple  or no shadows

    c) Field of View ... make it a small cone to the front .. if you have a wide FoV the computer has to calculate much more things

    d) In login screen .. go to game settings .. choose shader at 1.1 (anything less than "optimal")

I have never heard of anyone having a laggy tutorial .... hmm, have you declared the IP of SWG as a secure adress so your firewall does not check every bit coming from SOE ?

    Have fun

Disable "bloom" in graphic options it will stop the lag...

Another big help on slower PC's is to turn off world preloading on the launcher options. And disabling caching speeds things up a bit as well.

i'll add to that (all good stuff)..

while your in the options setting your shader to 1.1, also disable World Preloading and Caching.  this will really give you a nice boost in performance ingame, enough so that you may be able to turn in game options up higher and still get respectable FPS.

TURN OFF VERTEX SHADERS IN THE LAUNCHPAD OPTIONS SETTING BEFORE LAUNCHING THE GAME. I FOUND THAT BOTH SWG AND EQ2 LAGG COME MAINLY FROM THE VERTEX SHADERS.  AFTER U DISABLE THEM, THE GRAPHICS ARE THE SAME ANYWAY... THIS REDUCED MY GAME LAGG BY 95%.
