I'm looking for a Cyberpunk MMO...

Are there any Cyberpunk MMO's in development, that you know of? I've searched around but haven't found a single one...thought I'd check with you guy's, first, before collapse into despair.

Well, this says it's Cyberpunk but even if it is, the reviews are negative

I know of no other mmorpg that is in the works.

There is the single player rpg Cyberpunk 2077 that will be coming out. So even if it's not multiplayer it might still scratch that itch.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."

    Original Skyrim: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/109547

Try the "Special Edition." 'Cause it's "Special." https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/64878/?tab=description

Serph toze kindly has started a walk-through. https://youtu.be/UIelCK-lldo

I'm definitely going to play Cyberpunk 2077...Sadly, it's the only thing I have to look forward to at this point.

I log into a near dystopian world of information wars between power struggling ideologs each and every day.

I think it is called "My Browser".

I hear you though. I love me a little cyberpunk in my sci-fi. So much so I'll likely try the fresh AO server when it comes out, as long as it doesn't overlap Classic's launch too much.

Even in our Eberron D&D campaign, we have to switch it up with running Savage Rifts from time to time and we have a strong cyberpunk element to it.

Black Gold is the only one I can think of.

Tried it once forever ago and do not remember if it was good or bad to be honest.
Black Gold was Steampunk not Cyberpunk. Although these genres are awfully specific now.

Was/is a really bad game and more steampunk than cyberpunk. There two faction..Union which is fantasy based and Isenhorst which is steampunk based.

Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.

I lost track of AO after I quit it all those years ago. Are they revamping AO? If so, I might give that a try. Thanks a bunch!

I swear they have been saying they were revamping AO graphically for like 12 years now and all that I ever saw was lighting slightly changing.

Not technically a new MMO or in development, but AO classic/progression server is coming at some point this year. That's been about the only cyberpunk MMO I've known outside of Neocron.

I just went to the AO website...some of the images seem to show improvements to the water textures and some of the ground textures. But those might have been introduced in their expansion packs.

I don't know what a "progression" server is, but if it means (vastly) better graphics I hope they have a thousand of them! :)

There was some promotion not long back of a cyberpunk game where the splash promotion scene showed a bar and cut outs where characters would be, and as they got closer to whatever the announcement was they filled in the characters. Can't remember the name. Bah.

EQ1, EQ2, SWG, SWTOR, GW, GW2 CoH, CoV, FFXI, WoW, CO, War,TSW and a slew of free trials and beta tests

AO fresh will launch at their current game version but without any expansion content. They will come over time. The backyards have been recreated as starting areas. It sounds like you need to pay the subscription option and, although there will be a limited store, the details of how limited are yet to be known.

You do however have access to the new updated graphics client which is technically in open beta still from what I have read. The world details look vastly superior than the old client but the character models themselves are not updated.

So the answer is yes, the game has been updated, but not quite a full effort all around.

How the game holds up on a relaunch will be interesting. Lotro's new servers felt more like a cash grab. The current built of the game is too easy, it requires a sub and they still kept full pay to win options in the cash shop. I lost interest quickly.

AO's new build doesn't sound like it suffered the easy mode conversion to the extent of Lotro. If the cash shop has no pay to win in it, it may succeed. If it hasn't deviated light years from it's original launch, I may still enjoy it. The current players have many more concerns, but these are my current important gate keeper issues.

    I second this option.

*Disclaimer, I might be considered biased because I still play AO a few months each year.

I know the one you were talking about. It was a single player game, and I swore it was Funcom releasing it, but can't find it on their site, unless it was that Mutant game.

Not exactly Cyperpunk, but as Cyberpunk is also my favorite genre I am also looking forward to Outer Worlds. https://outerworlds.obsidian.net/

I watched the video you posted and recognized it as one of those "Here are some tools, go entertain yourselves..." type of games. Not my cup of tea...I am far more demanding of developers than that.

I remember that game! I found it quite a while ago, but forgot about it...thanks for bringing it back on my radar!

Strong sandbox impression. I never played SWG, but it gives me SWG vibes. Also gives me AO vibes. This is the one I've been watching fro some years, but hesitant to try because years of early access is sketchy.

Yep! I look on youtube and found this:

Yeah its been in development hell. The original devs had to stop working on it for over a year because of something to do with the developers of the hero engine. It was eventually bought by the hero engine devs and they have slowly been working on getting it back up (something about wanting a game to showcase their engine  on).

Its playable now and that video I linked with player built cities is new to me why I posted it.

I bought into the early access from close to the start of the game for $40. Its in a playable state and I would say the $20 price now isnt too bad but last time I logged on a few months ago wasn't many people on, gonna be jumping back in to see whats new.

Asheram, what I'm most uncomfortable with is this verbiage from the steam overview:
The Repopulation is a science fiction sandbox MMORPG which is currently in Early Access and early alpha testing. You should only consider purchasing the Early Access for this title if you are okay with bugs, crashes, possible interruptions of service, and in some cases fluctuating features, as well as to support the development of the game and help up us build it.

Granted, all MMORPGs are undergoing "fluctuating features" and other problems., but when an MMORPG is in "early alpha testing" or even beta, the extent is amplified. And that's the biggest reason I'm hesitant.

I might be wrong but i think Black Gold was a mix of Steampunk (not cyberpunk) and fantasy.
