So back in the day, i would lose my life to Wow, i could use up to 20h a day and still not get bored.
I really cant find that feeling in any game atm.
So was wondring, do you others have a mmorpg that you can lose your life to and just spent all your time in it and have a joy, and why?

Most that remenisce about these glorious days don’t realise that they themselves have changed more then their beloved genre ever could (because in all brutal honesty its stagnant as f**k).

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.
It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.
It is just huge resource waste....'

I don't approve of what Snail games is doing using the same template/engine to rehash several games with simplya new skin but then i remembered that is what all the dev studios have been doing with Torchlight 1...2 Diablo 1..2...Destiny 1..3..The Division 1...2..goes way way back ,Baldur's gate 1....2,All of these games if around long enough just rehash with a new skin because it saves a ton of money and time and yet they sell them as brand new games.
Atlas allows me to build anywhere, sail the seas in realistic water, meaningful weather effects, very realistic type creatures, survival eating/drinking,treasure bottles with guardian battles,on the seas warfare or simply add artillery to land bases ,anywhere you want.It has discoveries and sometimes takes some real hiking/climbing to discover,oh yes you can even climb the sides of cliffs, scale walls and the game is VERY challenging with ZERO hand holding.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
I think my most was 24-30 hours straight on Diablo 2. But I did it so i could then sleep through a 6-7 hours bus ride.

This was back in the glory days of the MMO and I was younger. AO was in 2000 and E&B was in 2002 and I played both at the same time heavily.

Philosophy of MMO Game Design
No matter how good an mmo is I will never get there again.
While not MMORPGS i spend a lot of time in POE and Warframe, both capture the loot and progression pretty well with adding a more interesting combat approach than MMORPGS ever did.
I tried to get into Neverwinter, which ill probably go back to, as it at least has interesting combat, and i feel is under rated at least in the early game.
Nothing good on the horizon is a big downside. MMORPGS always lived on the hype of something new and better around the corner. All the upcoming games...aside from camelot and amazons ark attempt (in a very boring setting) are the only two i see making it, and i dont see camelot lasting very long...basing your game on huge fights that require a large population....great in the mid 2000's, not so much a good idea these days.
BDO for afk progression. Umm, just one no.
Just one mmo for me would have to be something with gates to different types and styles of play.
But I have high hopes for DUNE and 2077.
Some examples of what I mean:
1) Levels:
In GW1( it's not a MMO but fits this discussion) it had only 20 levels, and I thought that was stupid back then when games like Runescape had 100 levels and WoW had 60 levels. The idea of a multiplayer online RPG having so few levels seem stupid to me. But fast forward a few years later to the second expansion of WoW. Keep in mind each WoW expansion increased the level cap by 10 each back then. So I had already experienced this first level cap increase in the first WoW expansion TBC, so when the second time came around I woke up and realized how pointless these levels really are. They just a time sink. I use to be one of those players who thought levels were needed to learn your class. So why do I need a new level cap when I been playing this same class since Vanilla WoW? Levels as a whole are pointless. Give me a different progression system.
2) Guild Required Group Content:
This is usually Raids in PvE. I loved Raiding back in Vanilla WoW, but everything changed when WoW introduced 10 man raids as the new main raid format ( Vanilla had 10 man raids but 40 man raids were the main format.) I saw a new level of drama that turned me off from guilds ever since. I personally been very supportive of the LFG Queue tool since WoW first introduced it, which had a lot of backlash across the genre. I remember Trion was heavily against this feature at first but changed their tune when people complained about how hard it is to find groups for dungeons. I believe there is a place for Guild Required Group Content like traditional hardcore Raids, but I also there should be large scale group raid instances for casual pugs in a LFG queue as well. This is actually the appeal I have for the harder open world meta events in Guild Wars 2. They require coordination, large group of players and leadership, but not on the same level as traditional hardcore raids. I just would love if that game added more of these instead of making them short term meta events.
3) the importance of Sandbox elements:
Theme parks is the ideal design in my opinion, but Sandbox elements are important for long term appeal. Normally on these parts of the internet people think of FFA FL PvP when talking about Sandbox. But I dont think that defines Sandbox. Its bigger than that. Being able to change the world and build on the world is a forever content. Also giving players the tools to make events and ove that others can do would also add unlimited amounts of content, which is something all new Themeparks have a problem with coming out the gate, especially they designed their MMO around leveling with a fixed max level cap zone content endgame as mentioned in the first point on levels.

Will be getting back to AlterAeon or Screeps at some point.
Started to give Worlds Adrift another go to write a new review for its PvE servers. But gave up after it had yet again another item duplication bug.
And I'm in a "Keep forgetting to unsubscribe" cycle for FXIV. I don't remember which story mission I gave up on, but I do know that it was on that silly salt flat city thing. Which adequately describes my feelings towards the frustrating story/chore missions at times.

I might try grouping some in the next league, right now I feel too much like a clueless noob, which I clearly am as ARPGs arent something I have much experience in.

I never stopped my sub to either because I think they are good products and I want to see them do well. ESO has done very well. SWTOR although its imo the best writing in recent Bioware history since Mass Effect/Dragon Age, Its starting to lose its luster for me. These days I only check in to run a few FPs and help new players. A new xpac is needed for vet players.
ESO I'm still exploring and finding new stories. There is so much content to explore, and I have yet to do everything. I take my time in SP Elder Scroll games and really get immersed. That's the same approach I took with ESO. I sort of just ignore the main quest for a while and meander around the map doing things that happen as I see them. It really feels like an adventure.
ESO feels like a real world space and the quests are super well written. Everything feels designed as if it's meant for you to become part of the Lore. There is great intent and purpose in everything. This isn't a collect 10 pelts over and over type of game.
My time is being pulled away ESO right now to play The Division 2. But my heart is in the other DC
