I love how he says the heads do not go outside the human range but most look like a deformed alien. But I do like the creation tool overall and think they have done a very nice job to have some good customization so not everyone looks the same.
There are quite a few "real" people that look like deformed aliens ;-)

I also like the creation tool and have fooled around with it for a few hours already. Gives quite a a wide range of options.  Not quite as many as we had in Star Wars Galaxies, were we had thin tall giants and obese dwarfs (in neon pink "Borat" swimwear ;-) ) ,
but i understand the limits of keeping it within a range that can interface with the mo-cap routines.

Sadly they blew right out of the gate selling ships outside the game world, that is a huge fail.

Pvp,always a hot topic, imo pvp within a cash shop game is just REAL bad.Aside from that ,pvp within super skinny halls is again weak sauce.

it isn't just new places to go and ships to BUY i mean fly.."It's going to be a lot of fun for the player"i thought we were the judge of that?

Tossing a couple models/mesh's on a empty planet surface and tying a mission to it,is not the type of gaming i want to see.I want to see civilizations on various planets.I want to see various factions and various stores within these planets hubs.
Players can utilize a npc to run their store front,so players have to actually travel to the various planets to see the wares.

Having watched a female streamer go through the face morphings the other day was more painful than a trip to the dentist. She must have spent 5 minutes just on the lips,i was like omg i'm outa here.Unless developers can let players use their own REAL face,i am not interested because it is just a cheap mesh with a texture on it with some vertices, nothing special.

I am more interested in what is being done with the world and the combat.
So far years in and it always seems like more ships for sale and some small meaningless systems that will do NOTHING for the game to set it apart.

    >>>>I want to see civilizations on various planets.I want to see various factions and various stores within these planets hubs.>>>

You do know that there is a metric ton of lore and several unique (alien) languages (with scripts), which they are in the process of intergrating into the game?

Alas, we will not see that. I hoped to recreate my droid and spaceship store from SWG. No joy. Production and selling is mostly done by NSCs in Star Citizen.

There is a lot of argument about that. Seems like its mostly the PvP players that do not want to rely on the mercy of carebear non-combatants that manufacture and trade ... and demand ridiculous prices for "the good stuff". The PvP players prefer the more plannable NPC sellers.

You can have a mixture of NPC and player sellers if done right, but its tricky. I can't see what the problem is paying through the nose to the carebears, they don't take part in PvP anyway so what's the issue?

All I've seen of the character creation setup looks pretty good, and everyone knows how positive I am about CIG management.  ;)   This looks pretty decent though, loads of fun for incessant character builders.

The PVPvPVE split on crafting/building/selling is just another example of why we can't have nice things.

Hear that they broke the AI again, in new and different ways?

As you say some people like to go to great lengths - but if that is what they like I don't see a problem. And better to have a wide choice than to few options.

As to the developers letting players use their own REAL faces well the devs - sort of - have.

Sort of since they haven't "developed" the tech all they have done is provide an FOIP interface (Face Over IP) that - currently - supports Faceware. In the future this will be on a par with having a mouse or keyboard interface.

So - as long as you get a Faceware "webcam" - or whatever - you can be Wizardry in game with your very own REAL face!

Now why you would want to do this is ... well lets just say that as above I have no problem with anyone who does.

The "better content" comment was in relation to the "Around the Verse" weekly info videos and not about the game.

In summary: after a quarterly drop what we do is review the schedule; replan as required etc. Which makes answering the question "what have you done this week" difficult. So they are going to do something different.

The character creation does indeed look very good. As do the female characters.

Interesting snippet from the video as well:

the new system of storing body /facial shapes - a data matrix was mentioned - uses less memory / resources than the previous texture driven system even though the number of options has vastly increased and allows for gpu driven skinning.

The female characters don't look good? That's the huge female fanbase this game does not have dumped right there. :)

Not sure how you get that from what I said.

The character creation system - the one that creates all (human) characters be they male, female, androgynous or whatever - does indeed look very good. As do - "as" as in "also look very good" - the female - male, androgynous or whatever - characters.

And whilst it might be unreasonable to expect every game to go to such lengths it is perfectly reasonable to expect a game to at least make an effort to represent the diversity of forms that we find living in the world.  I would like to think that is a fact but sadly there are countries with governments that have "views" so it will just have to be an opinion.

I got crossed wires there, with you now; but not sure what governments think has anything to do with how avatars are created in games. I have said before I am not even sure SC needed this system before it launched but they seem to have done it well so all good.

Things may change in SC at current there is nothing that is close to this game. On the note of ships buying them etc it was a better idea then just asking for money to fund the project . I have invested a few 1000 into the game its just money.
