Does anyone know if SOE is planning on adding a raid system? I have read that the new combat system resembles EQII. I haven't played EQII but I enjoyed the raids on EQ.
Thanks!

i can't really think of anything that requires a "raid".
DWB definitly needs a full 8 man group (and 2 is better, but more is just convuluted). Grievious clone can be done with a very strong group.
The vette can only be done with 1 group.
if they do put in a "raid" system, then some bad guys worthy of raids need to be dropped in.

According to a list I have here, there is a Nightsister Elder that is level 278 hehe.
Does that qualify?

Actually NECROSIS (he's not Grevious) can be done with as few as 4 people. If you know what you're doing. It might even be do-able by just 2 or 3 Jedi. But we've done it with 4 non Jedi.

that's why i said Grievious Clone...
and it's NK-Nekrosis as long as we're correcting
i've heard of him done with as few as 4 people, i'm sure it's possible, just i've never done it firsthand with less then 7.

Well now that they've moved a bunch of new developers onto the SWG team I wouldn't be surprised if we see some raid-level content added. And since a lot of them came over from the EQ2 Dev Team I wouldn't be surprised to see raid groups added once raid level content is.
I'm still not entirely sure why they reduced group sizes from 20 to 8... doesn't make sense to me but owell... not my call I'd also love them to fix the damn UI so we can either skin it ourselves or have them add the ability to reduce the size of the damn group bars that take up 1/4 of the screen. That's ALWAYS Bugged me (and no, minimizing it isn't what I'm looking for. I just want to shrink it... I don't need 2-3 inch long info bars for each person in the group.

I've gotten to the point where I swear they feed new devs a brain tumor before turning them lose on SWG. Raids? God forbid. As if we need yet another thing to genercise SWG and bring in yet more of the worst elements of MMOs to further ruin our game....

Oh I dunno... it could be cool to have to coordinate a full scale army attack on an enemy faction space station or something....
Come to think of it.... That would be downright badass.
Blue Squadron, take the fighters. Red Squadron lay down cover fire... Transport squadron land in the docking bay and deploy ground assault units...
WHEE now that would be FUN

Sure, that would be grand, but you overestimate the new majority of gamers. What we would be more likely to see is the same lame shit I've seen in every other game: the Raid-Bots. Which are controlled by the largest guilds on each server. Which further promotes elitism, contention, bad feelings and the monopolizing of high end content (and the loot associated with it) by a greedy, arrogant minority.
No thank you, I'll pass.

To each their own. I really enjoyed raiding in EQ... it was the one thing that kept the game fun for me at high level. Because the grind sure as hell sucked. The only drag with doing raids is the 2 hours of getting everyone together. But with teamspeak and a semi-organized outfit you can bring that down under an hour.
As far as "Raid-Bots"? I don't see that happening in SWG... especially in space... no way is someone going to fly 2 ships in combat at once Let alone 3 or 4. Even ground combat in SWG doesn't really lend itself to hydras...

Ahh thank god, I reactivated the other day and was wondering why my combat/system/tells chat boxes which i like to seperate from my main have been constantly disappearing when i relog. Was beginning to think it was just me.
Raids, would be pointless, however I am all for a few server wipes/merges so we could have some real busy servers with 0 random houses placed and ghost towns. But I guess that would be to harsh on people who have left and could consider coming back.

You must play at off-peak times I'm on Lowca (which is one of the "lower" population servers) and it's PACKED at peak time

Eclipse isn't packed at peak times, since we have so many European players who are logged on later (or earlier depending on your PoV), but it's pretty steady throughout the day.
and of course cities like Coronet, Theed, Mos Eilsey are always full.
