I don't care. I haven't bothered with Epic Store yet but I will be getting it if BL3 is on it (and not on Steam).

No one should care. It's a full on meme at this point.

I feel like people perpetuate it because they know they can get a rise out of people. Hell, even SBFord put a picture of eating popcorn up to kick this discussion off.

Epic is fine. The only thing it lacks at this point in a friends list. Brand loyalty is stupid. Get over it.

    It's a bad gaming platform.
    Pure and simple.
I want to have all my games in one place.
And now I'm "forced" to go to a platform that is inferior to many others out there.
And it's another one.. Its already annoying enough having to open Battlenet for Destiny2, Uplay for Division2, Origin for Anthem and so on.
But at least those platforms have friends list, overlays to avoid alt+tab, etc..
Steam was also bad when they first start.. just sayin.
Steam was the only thing around of it's kind. Now we have come to expect certain features and functions for our launchers, and epic lacks some of the most basic of them. Me personally I don't plan on buying anything from that store because Epic has not shown me I can trust them.
But even then, my steam account is from a few months after steam launched (I lost my account I had when it came out) but I remember back then everyone I talked to HATED steam. It was a mandatory software when we didn't need it before. It was just an extra thing on top of the game that wasn't necessary and used up RAM and CPU. Hell, even though it made counter strike easier to play, a lot of the players I knew didn't like having it. Times change once people get used to things.

Steam needs competitors, Epic is trying (even if it is half assed). The platform isn't great, it has almost no good features, and I'm hoping over time they learn that they definitely need to pump out features quick or their store will not ever be able to compete. But I'll definitely buy the game on there if that's the only way to get it as I love borderlands and would like to play it with my SO.

The problem is Epic hasn't built a better mousetrap. They just paid to have the cheese only sold to them.

Epic is spending all it's (considerable) cash on buying "exclusive" rights to the biggest-name games. Then they'll add in a small discount on the "normal" game price, and hope that will be enough to attract millions of gamers. And it probably will be...

Once they have a dominant position in the market, they might expand the features of their portal, but then they can also afford to shrink those discounts they so liberally toss around now.

Epic is buying their way into the market, and they'll expect to recoup that investment later. With interest...

At this point talking about Epic store is boring. I just hope we don't end up with a second Youtube like monopoly, that would be horrible.

Oddly enough, Outer Worlds devs said the same thing after it was confirmed to be an Epic Store exclusive, "It was the publisher's decision, not us." I mean I get why publishers exist, but its a shame at the same time.

I think it's fine. If people want to keep a list they can just, you know, write down their info. Contact them on their own. Get the band together by calling or texting or emailing or voice chat or any of the other incredible ways that are available to us.

Or maybe that's just too much effort? :(

Or they could use .......the Epic Store fiends list.

They could also link their Epic account to to their Steam or Facebook account. And if their friends on these platforms agree then they can join them on Epic.

Whilst Epic haven't rolled out everything they are planning a friends list is available.

My reason behind no steam-no buy, is I want all my games in one place. I like how steam tracks my game hours, I like the community's that are on steam. I had an issue with all this, before it tacked on as a major media issue. Dead space 1 and 2 are on steam but I have to have 3 on Origins shit launcher. Same with Mass Effect, My issue with that is needing multiple launchers installed with saved information just to play one thing or the other.

I get the reason, Steam is greedy they want to much money and people that are trying to make money, want the least amount of loss with there sales. I don't know why others are complaining I have my reasons and to me they are good reasons. The people that are enjoying others becoming outraged about it because it doesn't matter to you, then why fuel the fire by making smart comments to the people that feel they are losing the platform that is most important to them.

I really started to become outraged at this for more then just, "now I need more then one launcher to play shit" when Metro Exodus was ripped from the steam store last minute because they got a better deal with Epic Store. I don't like to pre order things anymore and because I did not pre order it I would have to now buy it from Epic Store if I wanted to play it, after it has been sitting on my wish list for month after month waiting for it to come out. After reinstalling Metro 2033 and Last Light from my very nicely categorized steam list of games only to find out that I will not be able to buy it from steam and yet again brings back another series of games where one of them has to be played from a different launcher.

Surprised Discord never get any of these games.

Discord never had a chance to be competitive.

On the plus side, pretty much every PC gamer uses Discord for communication in and out of games. I would buy games from them even quicker than Steam because i'm already using Discord. My Steam (which has hundreds of games) has been collecting dust for over a year.

why? everyone sold their soul to Steam after nobody wanted that piece of junk 10 years ago. Suddenly they are the good guys. I personally prefer no DRM.

While i don't hate Epic (my only gripe with them is their lack of features) and i do enjoy myself some drama with popcorn.

But come on, saying that Epic store just lacks a 'friend list', that's just being disingenuous about it. Epic themselves have release a roadmap of the many features they lack (it will become a decent store in around a year).

I simply cannot understand the hate that people have for the Epic Games store.  I love it.  It's making Steam competitive again.

    Agreed

I don’t understand wanting a monopoly in order to save a few clicks and a few megs.

    competition is a good thing.

You obviously haven't tried it yet.    It's like a bare bones 10 year old version of Steam made for an ipad or smartphone but selling PC games.

    It has games for sale.

    I buy them.

    I download them.

    I play them.

I never used 85% of the crap associated with Steam in the first place.  In fact, most of it is unnecessary clutter that if I could change my UI wouldn't ever show up again.

Not on steam will not buy. I own every game in the series on steam. Why the hell would I want to install Epics POS just to buy a game?

Sorry that steam came out at just the right time to overtake and replace what was already around like direct2drive, ect... but that is what happened. They timed their release perfectly kinda like WoW did an were able to pretty much corner the market for a very long time.

You are not going to pull people like myself away from it where we have libraries of games in the hundreds already.

I will just wait for it to come to steam or this will be another game I will just not support.

I don't need to keep installing software from every publisher out their just to play games.

Just wanted you guys to know: this guy JUST bought Metro Exodus on the Epic Store last night.

It was so sweet.  I didn't even have Steam launched at all!

You would think Epic had already publicly stated "here it is, take it or leave it!" by the way some of the folks here talk.

    Seems to be true.
I can see a pre-order of Borderlands 3 in the Epic store now, with release date of 09.13.2019.
I can see no pre-order of Borderlands 3 in my Steam store.
