Of course i'm also not everyone and i know a lot of people can't try a game for themselves they need to be told to play it, so thats also understandable.
I'm not sure if you meant it that way, but it comes off as condensating to me.

First of all, you can not "try" a game. Hardly any game these days offer a trial. So your options are:
    • watch it on someone's stream or pre-recorded video
    • buy it off steam then refund if you don't like (not sure how dodgy that method is on steam, no idea if it's offered at all on Epic)
Personally I appreciate the people who leave thoughtful reviews of the games they played. Even on titles that the review scores are "Overwhelmingly positive", the negative reviews are even more interesting. When the reception is "Mixed" I look at the reason, was it the gameplay or were there technical difficulties and problems?

Generally speaking Steam provides certain tools to the customers. Whether they will use them or ignore them is up to them. Also different people find different usage out of those tools. I for example, never wrote a review for a game I owned, nor I plan to do so, yet thousands do.

On a last note, I don't know of anybody that loves a game because he was told to. Marketing helps with exposure (and false promises), but does marketing turn people into sheep?
If anything, I'm confounded by the amount of people that spend an inordinate amount of money on mobile trash.
I think you didn’t get the memo that clearly states that when you like something somebody else doesn’t you’ve been manipulated/tricked/duped/stupid.

And I hate Steam reviews: 30%is funny, 30% holds a grudge, 30% is too short to make sense of and perhaps 10% is usable and coming from people I don’t know anything about.

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.

It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.

It is just huge resource waste....'

When it comes to pricing, right now its somewhere around €10 cheaper to buy physical copies of a new game compared to buying it from steam, epic, uplay, origin, windows store and playstation store. When I played the game I can trade it with a friend, something which is impossible with items bought from those store. I also have better refund options with a physical copy since they all follow local laws unlike the digital stores.

I never thought I would go back to buying physical copies of games but today I ordered physical copies of sekiro and devil may cry 5 for my ps4 and managed to save €20 by doing so.
hey if where you live they sell physical and yet is cheaper good for you, I would and still prefer the physical one, but good luck find one here, I had to request for one if I wanted and that would mean would cost a lot more, plus the shop I used to buy from closed a couple of year now, all the 3 stores I used to buy from...
FOR HONOR, FOR FREEDOM.... and for some money.

Well, I avoided the Steam and Epic games debacle and just pre-ordered Anno 1800 on Uplay since it uses it to run anyways. Only difference is I won't need to patch through a second launcher. I would like to note that it is the top selling game atm on Steam, sadly there will most likely be no real support beyond patches on Steam.

To be fair purchasing from Steam or Epic Games has no effect on the "debacle" :D
