Who out there missies the old spell research, pre spilt pea?

I loved the the research factor in the old days. Thats the way mages would of done it in real life (lol). then split pea came out and kid of ruined the spell economy. Now there are no need for components anymore! image

yeah ac used to be my fav mmo, and still would be, before they changed the spell dynamics. even with split i still enjoyed the game. i have went back to ac twice since that change and its just not as fun as it once was.

Yeah, it was very cool that spells before SplitPea actually meant something. There actually were "master mages" who knew maany spells and could teach others. And remember scrolls were worth something! It would have been amazing if Turbine could have kept it like that, but sadly it's impossible. A program is always invented or some website puts up the information. Even if I personally try to avoid the information it's kind of pointless because I begin to lag so far behind in my spell research compared to everyone else. I end up pretty much forced to "cheat" to compete.

The same thing with quests. It was great before there was a guide for every single thing. Players had to look for more knowledgable people to teach them how to complete a quests because there was aknost no in game guidance (no quest log, quest book, quest steps, etc.). It was quite realistic, you talk to a guy and he tells you some stuff and the rest is up to you.

Turbine's original plans were so noble and awesome. I like not having to rely on others now somewhat, but I also liked the fact that there was a hierarchy based on knowledge before all of the spoilers. It really encouraged the patron/vassal system to be something other than for XP. Too bad us gamers are always looking for the most efficient way to play ::::21:: I suppose it holds true for every game but especially for AC1 since there was so little guidance in game. Everything was left up for players to learn.

Yeah...I remember my brother using split pea...but what's the point? Just because people cant play the game the way it's suppossed to be play they have to come up with these programs which is really like cheating on an mmorpg. Sheesh, I think I have those old game blues.

Can't really say I miss it, but I miss AC the way it was back then.
