Official Sea of Thieves Content Update: The Arena

Sea of Thieves is giving its players some all new ways to play the game when it opens The Arena on April 30th. Players will be able to "experience the thrill of competition and engage in explosive encounters" while there and show off their prowess in battle.

Every write up I've seen from sites that had a chance to preview it has been positive and really liked the game mode. If it's an additional mode in a larger game, what's the harm? I am no fan of battle royale games, but crapping on a completely separate mode within a bigger game is just silly.

Also, it's not a BR mode. BR is a specific type of arena match and this is much more classic in style with a twist where you collect silver. Not sure what you'd call it.

Pseudo BR with Silver?

I know, I know. I'm picky, but I don't believe (could be wrong) there is a shrinking bubble forcing players together. The key characteristic that defines a BR

It is not at all a BR, if it is for you, then all DeathMatch games are BR :$
I think it is cool to propose some competitive modes, because most of hardcore players were arguing about the fact the game didn't propose enough challenge. It is a great addition. And also the destroyable ship parts are great for the gameplay!

Are you suggesting this is a variation on BR, seems only a slight one? I am all for anything which makes the gameplay somewhat different in any game.

I'm saying is not a variation in any way. It's a variation on classic death match as posted just above.

I'm not seeing how this is a BR. It just looks like a player vs player death match. I think any time a PvP mode is introduced in any game people automatically jump to the BR train since that is what is hot.

I honestly can't wait to try this out. I want more PvP oriented content in the game. At the moment it's fun blasting people away and stealing their loot, but this will add more variety.

This is battle royal... But what makes this one different... No one will play it. I thought this game died a long long long time ago.

I shouldn't bash it so hard. This might have been ok if it was a xbox exclusive for little kids.. I don't play roblox but the kids love it.
