The biggest laughable joke is,how would his game look if he had to actually build it on the 6-11 million...ROFLMAO.it would be the laughing stock of the world.I saw the game after the 100 mil mark and it was laughable....oh nice hangar, what do i do with it..oh you can store your purchased ships and look at them, don't they look nice !!.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
I have only spent $6000 I still have $4000 to go to get my F8. There are many people like myself still here, the money well won't end anytime soon. The base of the game is already decent in comparison and a lot of what has been developed so far is amazing. My wallet trumps.
People give money to televangelists as well in handfuls so to each their own. What televangelists and CR have in common is they thank you very much for their ferrari while you are now the proud owner of pixels.
For the money you have spent then I hope it turns out to be everything that CR envisioned and sold to you.
It's not only what CR envisioned, it is what I have envisioned. If you were part of this process then you would know that the community has had quite a major impact on the actual development of the project. Televangelists deal is smoke, nothing is tangible, CIG already has a tangible product that I enjoy and is far superior to many released products that have a cost of $100-$200 mil, I don't care if it costs $300-$500 mil, the end product will grant me more longevity and enjoyment than games that cost $100-$200 mil less and take half the development time but release a product that engages me for maybe a couple months before I reach end game and everything is boring. This game will be released and again, my wallet trumps your words.
Am I the only person to realize that this article is just pure clickbait?
There is literally nothing new. It's the same rehashed shit we've been hearing for years. It's like a bad boy band record producer. Get a bunch of interviews from disgruntled ex employees, print salacious claims based on statements from said ex employees, sprinkle in some wild speculation based on rumors... Profit!
For the record I have no money invested into the game and I check in on it every 6 or 7 months to see where it goes. If it comes out and it's not a buggy shit show, I'll probably buy it.
What I don't understand is the absolute immense, Viagra fueled hardon people have for seeing this game fail.
This whole thing could be used to teach a masterclass in how to identify confirmation bias.
I think what happened is. . most people see enough signs that something is wrong. . their brain is telling them it is wrong so they want to have that confirmed.
Most of the time this instinct is correct. The only time it is usually wrong is when we experience something completely new and game changing. They are trying to do this which is what keeps the fans from looking at what others suggest is strong evidence of a problem.
I think this is fairly natural. For me, I expect it to fail in some ways but not completely and hope that it delivers what they / we want. The longer it goes with out releasing something the more people are going to become suspicious.
Imagine if NASA said they were going to the moon again and then showed some tech and said. . no way. . MARS. . then landed a rover but didn't get there. . . this is where Start Citizen is in my mind. . except they are pushing past MARS without getting to the moon first. If they pull it off. . awesome! If they don't it won't affect me much other than I wanted SQ42, which I imagine will be playable in some form.
For something that is trying to absolutely change a genre there will always be doubters. . . but for good reason.
I was one of those people that called Darkfall vapourware. I am not proud of that. . . but the end result wasn't what I hoped for either.
Star Citizen's monetary setup is based on selling people their dreams. The final product will never measure up.
With a bad captain, every journey is more perilous....
Sounds a lot like the time share sale thing I went to in Las Vegas recently. Same thing, over sell you on an idea that you are buying something of value, memories, fun, when in fact it is worthless.
Wow when Forbes writes an article like that....They usually can care less about the games industry but this amount of money has caught people's attention...Now there will be greater pressure than ever for them to set a timetable to release or they may see a class action lawsuit.
Pressure?
Aside of being nothing new, articles like this have hit them for almost 5 years now, of hyperbole or even doomsday talk, together with gigantic waves of never-ending hate (like this forum) against the game/company.
It did as much of an impact on the game then as it does now, is just more of the same old drama that can not be described any more perfectly than "the dogs bark as the caravan goes on".
The game is doing fine, backers are generally good with what has been happening with the game's recent progress, the game funding is stronger than ever... while as usual hate and triggered people remains vastly external (hence vastly irrelevant influence) to the backer and player base of the game.
Same old thing my friend, same old thing.
Except you forget CI sold part of the company. So they now have investors they need to answer to who want to see their money returned with a nice profit attached.
There has been doomsday talk for years now and plenty of it has almost come true. Except there’s a rabid fan base out there who will throw money hand over fist without stopping to ask any questions and keep the company barely afloat.
whatever happened to that Erillion fellow, or whatever his username was... he used to live for this kind of stuff, explaining to everyone how they were wrong and the game is amazing and on track etc...

Funny story, NASA put the Opportunity Rover on the surface of Mars for $400M which operated for 14 years.
Star Citizen may well equal or exceed this amount, but take 14 years to launch. Weird.
$400M per Rover. $800M in total of course.
So you're saying for CIG to actually release both SQ42 and SC, they'll need another 300-400 million, at least?
Nope. Not suggesting anything about SC and/or SQ42. Just correcting the "error" that NASA put an Opportunity Rover on Mars for $400M. What the delta for putting a 2nd Rover on Mars was though .. don't know but the costs don't split 50/50 in these cases.
And strictly speaking even the $800M figure for 2 is inaccurate. If NASA had not existed when the project started the figure would have been much higher and the project would have taken longer.
<snip> Televangelists sell faith which is as tangible as an unfinished game <snip>
What televangelists sell is much less tangible than an unfinished alpha. There are on-going legal investigations in the US into several of them as well.

My advice, keep your hands on your wallet as you seem rather to liberal in getting it out before the game comes out.

Shrillion is more fitting
He probably still is having fun with the game, people enjoy different things after all, i doubt he is the only one either as CIG wouldn't have raised as much cash as they have unless that was the case. Chances are he sees more from the inside as to what the game will hopefully turn out to be, than is possible looking in from the outside. If he ever gives up in having fun with Star Citizen, then i think its likely that is the point where there isn't any hope for the game at all.

Thank you, as you suspected i am having a lot of fun.
Austria - being a very catholic country - has public church holidays ("Pfingsten") at the moment (yes, including monday).
Which means i enjoy playing Star Citizen (and the new Battle Tech Urban Warfare) during this extended weekend, alternating with swimming a few kilometers each day in 32 Celsius sunny weather.
Now add to that Keanu Reeves as Jonny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077 cinematic video. YES !

All of which isn't really applicable as @Kyleran wasn't saying the two projects were pursuing the exact same goal in the same way. This post just makes you sound like a "well actually..." guy when our posts were clearly tongue-in-cheek.

Kyleran on yours sincerely
'But there are many. You can play them entirely solo, and even offline. Also, you are wrong by default.'
Ikcin in response to yours sincerely debating whether or not single-player offline MMOs exist...
'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.
It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.
It is just huge resource waste....'
Gdemami absolutely not being an armchair developer
Didn't see any mention of actually going to church there though.....

Fully expected someone to point out I failed to index it against inflation or something.
This is the land of splitting hairs after all.
I'm looking forward to playing the first video game which is valued over a billion to create.
See if anyone can figure out how I came up with that figure.
