Shame on Forbes to let such unethical blogger leave article in their partner program. Forbes you got my eternal Adblock congrats
They have raise 225 or more I guess theyre not updating their spread sheet anymore so who knows what its at. The last date I see added was March 2 and they were at 219 then. I am sure Forbes is counting the 46 million or whatever that bail out amount was. So theyre at 271 at least if you believe all the numbers.
What you and all the other fanbois keep trying to forget and convince others to over look is that 300 million wont be enough, 400 wont be either. They have spent everything they have gotten (the 46 million is up for debate but I imagine they have spent a lot of that as well even though t was for a specific purpose).
Basically look at what they have now, and figure that cost 220 million. What percentage of an actual MMO is what exists right now? 20% as a very generous portion. So they need FIVE times the money they have already gotten to release something most would consider a reasonable attempt at an MMO.
How many more jpegs do they need to turn into actual ships that are in the tech demo universe? Tanks? Land they sold where is that mechanic? They havent even got full persistence yet. So they have a LONG way to go to even have a skeleton to build the 'game' on. They have done a great shell game putting in a couple instances that lets you fly around and 'dogfight' or whatever they call it. They have put in a couple space station you can rubber band around in and insta death trying to get into the few ships they have put in. And I guess they have a planet or a moon you can land on and do something.
How many planets moons and solar systems were they supposed to have? Pretty sure it was over a hundred. They dont even have a single solar system fleshed out yet. Its been 5 or 6 years, and its been at least 3 or 4 since they had 'serious' man power. Even though people still like to claim they were a couple guys in a basement somewhere until recently. They have had the Amazon LY engine for nearly 4 years now.
So its just more continuing failure (other than the ability to keep raking in cash for delivering little or nothing of actual substance).
But thats all this thing has. And I have said it for years now, as long as they keep getting money given to them they can pretend to be making something.

It’s crazy how much more rational the comments are here compared to what I saw on reddit lol
Welcome to the Forums!
Always good to see we are more rational than Reddit.
Well now, Reddit sets a pretty low bar so not too hard to hurdle it.
I was under the impression reddit buries the bar so unless you’re dragging your feet you won’t exactly trip over it
That was once true but over the past several years they have slowly got much better. There is a strong degree of moderation and indeed some of our posters have commented that it is MMORPG.com that now has the lower bar. As you can imagine that did rile me a bit.

Joe it is close to $300M.
At the end of 2017 they had spent just shy of $200M, in 2018 they spent another $45M+ and received a loan for $46M which brings the tally to $291M.
You should write a letter telling them about how you plan to adblock them forever and ever. In fact you should go and picket their premises in protest.
Shame on Forbes for telling people who know nothing about a shitty crowdfunding project about said shitty crowdfunding project.
I find it a bit funny that people base their entire opinion of this project on the news they hear second or third hand.
I am a backer and some would call me a whale. If you are not familiar with that term it means I have lots of cash invested in the project, to the tune of thousands. I knew going in what the risks were and are. I did not blindly throw money at the project nor do I think that Chris Roberts is a saint. He micromanages the project and tries to push ideas out of practical priority, that is pretty obvious. But here is the thing, at some point it must have become obvious even to Chris himself because he has people other than himself there to run the day to day business now. At one point he was the sole manager of the project, but that has not been the case for some time. So his ability to detour the project or slow it down due to fantastic sidetracked ideas or micromanaged requirements is minimal.
Now, as I said I am a big backer. I have been for a long time. I have closely followed the development and participated in the Alpha testing, a member of ETF (NDA test group) and contributor to the feedback forums since 2014.
I have also attended the CitizenCon event last October. The company employs over 500 people right now in 4 offices across 3 countries over 2 continents. Many of them were in attendance at the event. I spoke with quite a few.
It would be easy to say that you can put 10 people in a room that can all convince you that a scam is real. It might be possible to even do it with 25, or 50. But that event had over a hundred employees that were there to talk about the project openly with anyone who stopped to ask questions. I spoke with developers, artists, directors, and everything in between.
No matter what Chris' personal agenda may be, these people are there to make a game and to make a great one.
And that is why I lose no sleep at night over the funds I have contributed to the project.

Well spoken. But I think you underestimate Roberts' egotism. You're right though, in that the less he has to do with management of the project, the better.
If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.
LOL. "Launched an investigation". Look im not a journalist or an investgator, but i have common sense. Ill tell you where its gone. Salaries, Infastructure, R&D. A game of Star Citizens scope is not gonna be cheap to make.
But to know that would mean you would actually have some understanding of business and game development. So that pretty much rules out 99.999 percent of gamers.
