    2016 -- I clarified the title a bit

No matter what, it looks fantastic. I'll keep my fingers crossed it plays as well!

I actually really like that they stuck that 2 in there. Initially it was supposed to be called Rune Ragnarok then they decided to rename it to just Rune and now this name finally makes sense.

I played a viking 3rd person action game called Rune like 15 years ago. This doesnt appear to have anything in common with it though.

Was partially crowd funded with them saying it was going to be a steam release now they snuck in epic store exclusive. No wonder people want a refund.

How does anything look fantastic? The graphics look dated, the animations are horrible, and the sound is subpar. Looks like a steaming pile of crap...

The first rune was basically an arena style multiplayer game. It was a great game and I played the crap out of it. It had a single player campaign I think, but I never really played that part of it. I just played the PVP portion.

Is this the same RUNE game that is listed in Steam? or is this a different version? It looks like same developer?

Well, it looks like it's an indy game and tempering expectations for indy games is a thing.

With Indy games something is always compromised.

It is the one on steam but apparently they have decided to move to Epic.

Graphics / animations look decent for a kickstarted game. Nonetheless I'll wait for any form of user ratings before buying it - especially considering how "Epic" store doesn't have even basic star rating.

Also Xsolla payment gateway sucks. Having Epic's budget they could easily create their own payment processing company long ago. edit: on the second thought - they are incapable to do anything substantial. Cannot even implement a star rating in the store during six months.

    Thank you for your time!

    The other thread:

    https://www.mmorpg.com/videos/rune-ii-and-its-epic-games-store-exclusivity-explained-1000006561

For me this statement is key:

"After beta testing, the company realized it needed more time with the game and more finances."

The vid talks about how they shopped the game around and got a number of offers but that the one they got from Epic was the best deal in town. Also says that all the money they are getting is going into the game.

All the rest - Epic being involved in the original Rune etc. - imo is secondary.

They finished beta testing; this showed the game needed more work so more time and consequently more money. I suppose they could have launched as was but I think its hard to fault their choice if their aim was to deliver on their crowdfunding promises.
